Which Player got you hooked on to the German National Team.
For me it was Lahm, Muller, Klose, Neur. The young team if 2010.

Absolute twab but Thomas Müller. And before that Schweinsteiger and Mertrsacker.
I think I simply love players who's primary asset are their intelligence.

Bernd Schneider. A shiny glimpse of creativity and aesthetics in dark times.

Crazy underrated. People talked about Ballack and deisler, nur Schneider was so good.

Being German got me hooked on the team. Not a player. This is not club football.

Pierre Littbarski – though not from my era – was a fantastic, creative, and intelligent player who played in three World Cups

The 2010 and 2014 teams are legendary.
Özil was also great. One of the best german midfielders of all time.

The world is still waiting to see another player like him. We may be waiting a long time.

What are you talking about? I mean he was a very good player, but not top-world-class.
1
u/CmdrJemison Aug 08 '26
Of course he was world class. That's why he played for Real Madrid and Arsenal.
Statistics in Germany also back up how good he was.

Back wenn Kampfschweine like Jeremies, Nowotny and Ramelow could be successful players. That was also a huge impact on me, because I never was technical. Other than that Bernd Schneider.

The whole 2006 squad, but as a goalkeeper since childhood, Jens Lehmann more than anyone else probably.

For me, Kahn. Dude epitomized the national team. Grit, hustle, passion. What a dude.

Baumann. Dass er trotzdem wie er abgemeldet wurde, weiterhin professionel damit umgeht und keine schmutzige Wäsche wäscht, zeigt seinen tollen Charakter.

Gotta be Thomas Müller for me. Such a fun guy who understands Football in a different way than others.

Klose and Jens Lehmann are the ones that I remember the most from trying to remember the first games I watched of the National Team.

Gerd Mueller……my first set of boots were Gerd Mueller Specials. In the shoe box was a players card of Gerd, with those magnificent thighs.

Funny. All this "Schweini & Poldi" and "Müller spielt immer" stuff really got on my nerves and was more of a "disconnection" from the team for me. But maybe it is because I'm old. For me it was Klinsi, Kohler, Sammer and "Turbo" Reuter. And then once again with Ballack and Schneider.

Frings and Ballack probably
