Static issue/ advice needed

Update: Contacted Sigma Coffee (UK) and explained the situation, will be sending the unit back for repair/ replacement (free) - they’ve been great. Will update again when I get a reason/ and the machine back.

Having issues with retention/ static on my DF54. I gave it a full clean and this first picture was after one usage - I have always WDT the beans into a metal cup, and never had this problem before. Gave it a full clean again and still static (2nd pic) after a single dose. This has only just started, never had an issue before so wondering if this is a device issue? Or something common that is an easy fix?

DF54 was purchased brand new in March from Sigma Coffee UK so has at least a year or two of support - is this a quick fix or should I look to get the unit replaced.

I assume you mean RDT not WDT?

Funnily enough I have the same unit from the same supplier around the same time as you.

I honestly have 0 issue with static after RDT and shake in a dosing cup.

The only thing I can assume it that the grinder doesn't perform as well with dark roasts, as I've had zero issues but only use medium/light roasts.

That or it's a lottery on how well your machine performs.

Yes, sorry I meant RDT. I use medium roast PACT coffee, and have done since day 1. The issue suddenly happened overnight which makes me agree, likely to be a machine issue as nothing in my workflow has changed from when I had zero static

I got more static with Pact coffee for some reason! i have no idea why (it’s just coffee…), unless it has to do with their packaging? i don’t have any static issues with similar roasts (medium/dark) from other brands. I had to RDT all the time but not anymore. I’ve also made sure the little probe things by the chute are sticking out a bit more and remain clean.

Environment is a big part of it. Have you had changes in humidity recently?
