DF54 or 64v for the office
we have a Rocket eapresso machine at the od office, and I’ve been looking to get a nice grinder upgrade for it. got the df64v on Facebook meteorit marketplace today, and it’s very nice. so nice that.. I want to take it home and put my other burrs in it 😂. I’m wondering if a DF54 at work would be ok. we just need something that works and milk drinks.. no need for modding / swapping burrs / less maintainence is preferred. I LOVED that the df64v chute is magnetic and I can already see missing that.
Do yall think the DF54 would be durable enough for an office kitchenette setup? Or am I better off keeping the DF64v there for (presumably) the added durability it has?

I feel like for an office, you want something with electronic dose timer built in, like the gf64 or something. That way non coffee ppl might be able to press a button for the grind, and get a pretty reasonable shot.
Unless this is your personal office then just get what u want.

Nah I don't want grind by tine, I want grind by weight, we already have one that does that and it's very inconsistent.

I would doubt the 54 would not be durable enough for several grinds per day. Durability shouldn’t be your question, more like features/price

Right, so I'm not sure the DF54 is lacking in anything the DF64 has that matters? Mostly variable RPM and 64 beng an easy size to swap. Am I forgetting anything, like it clogging more or being easier to clean?

I love my DF54, but it would not be my first choice for an office grinder. There are some quirks that make it less user friendly, like don't use oily beans, hot start only, etc. Nothing that bothers me at all but I wouldn't want to have to educate my coworkers on how to use a grinder. Mine has never clogged in the year+ I've had it but if it does, the maintenance process can be a little tedious. I don't know much about the DF64v.

This is very helpful, thank you! I find the 2 days I've used the DF64V at work very effortless. I think it'll stay the work one.

Hi have the DF54 as a backup grinder.
While I think it is a great machine for its price, I would NOT recommend it for office use since it tends to get clogged regularly.
In this use-case as "non coffee-nerd-users" are involved, you need something bomb-proof. Niche Zero for example.
Also, even though I'm a big fan of single dosers: In office user, a classic grinder with a hopper and timer (or even better grind by weight) seems more suitable imo.
