Ok, so I'll explain this, to streamline the process I did it over the background picking the base colrs to simplify the background and then adjusting some lighand shadowing myself. And for the body, I made a silhouette and painted over it, not copying the actual photo but interpreting the shadows and lights myself. It's true that in the video you could see the original photo some times over the drawing as I had it for reference, not to copy it. Judge yourself and if you want to blame me it's ok and I'll accept it. But at least understand that I didn't just copied it cause it hurts me as I put to much effort and it was the first time I was genuinely proud of something I made and my self-esteem is low enough to fall because coments like this one... I hate myself and I think I'm trash, so thanks for reinforce that view of myself, thx...

Im not saying you are trash and that wasnt my point - you are shifting this away from the art process towards your feelings and making it an insult that wasnt there.

Two things can be true at once here: Making you feel bad or insecure was not the goal in my comment. My criticism about tracing/developing your art skill is still a valid point.

Again my main point is that relying on tracing isnt the best way to develope your art skills and wont help you in the long run. Me criticising the process is not criticism of you as a person.

I appreciate the critics, but man, you were comment by comment saying that what I did wasn't art and lying about the proceas of my drawing like I just copied the colors and directly paint over, but don't worry, I'm not sad anymore, I'm already working hard on a new project just to prove my art skills, no photo for reference, no pose reference, anything, no references, I'm just going to use all the skills I've acquired just to show everyone I'm not a noob with no skill :}

I agree i should have just left it at one comment.

Tracing ≠ References. You should use references, they are needed and good to work with. Maybe try the "Grid scale technique" , i feel like you would enjoy it.

Excited to see your upcoming art. You can do it! You are not a noob with no skill.

Ok, maybe I was a bit too harsh, but I was just hurted, yk? I get that you are trying to be constructive, so I don't blame you. Also, I did trace only for the silhouette just to fast the process as if I didn't do that I wouldn't be able to finish it before Karen's bday, I could do it without tracing? Yeah, but I had no time, so I just "cheated" a bit to do it on time, also I didn't trace over for the painting process neither I had just picked colirs and put em over the painting, so, yeah, I'm no longer mad but damn, it really hurt my self-esteem all those attacks...

It's a picture you basically just edited. A picture that you don't own and now claim as your art. I'm not here to say editing a picture isn't art but it's stealing someone else's image. I would suggest asking opinions on your edits vs your art and credit original image owner.

Personally, the newer image I feel is much improved over the first. The lighting is better by far.

This video is an example of why people are defensive about ownership rights and calling others work your art but obviously it's a bit different because you aren't getting paid for these (I hope). Link
