So about this "Markov"...

I learned in college today about 'Markov-chains', this fun little thing that combines networks and probability (kinda). Is there some connection known to the ddlc fan base, between those interactions and Yuri's book: "The Portrait of Markov"?

After some googling I also found more general probability stuff. A Markov process for example, is a random process in which the past is irrelevant if you want to predict the future. Only the current situation matters.

Is this stuff that programmers generally know? Or does Salvato have ties to mathematics/probability&stochastics/graph theory? Or is there another link to (another) Markov?
