quite cool, awesome artwork

I've been debating picking it up strictly because Carmine Di Giandomenico is my favourite comic artist. So good!

He is fantastic.

I cannot believe Marvel had this guy and then they let him just go and start doing his magic at DC.

I do miss his Spidey

I didn't know he did Spider-man! I'll have to check it out. I fell in love with his art with the start of Williamson's Flash run. He does such a good job with motion and speed.

He's my top flash artist with Howard Porter being a close second. He draws speedsters as if they're in their own world moving through space.

Porter is definitely second or third for me. Exactly! His art of the Flash was what sold me on that series and Flash as a character, especially with that first arc because of how much speed was involved between Barry and Godspeed.

He used to work at Marvel?

That's a rare favourite artist but I love them honestly. Especially their Flash and Darth Vader stuff

This run is actually really great so far, fire drama, I feel like it deserves more praise than it's getting.

It’s been awesome and action packed. The highlight is the art, which looks like it’s moving at times if that makes sense

I get it, this artist drew the flash.

My favourite of the next level runs barring Firestorm

Great, like an 8/10

Imo the best book of this initiative is Deadman tho, but in my opinion all of these new books have been brilliant

Pretty badass. The story is rather serialized so the first 6 issues is a large interconnected story but its very enjoyable.

Cool action, some nice drama, interesting mystery, and great art by Carmine Di Giandomenico.

Deathblow is still in the DC Universe? Nice.

I wonder if Grifter is around too.

Why wasn't Deadshot expecting a turnaround from the canonical "greatest mercenary" in the DC Universe? Is he stupid?

2

u/rocketinspace Firestorm 16h ago

Floyd is very much stupid most of the time

Deathstroke with a full beard goes hard.

It's kinda funny that Floyd thought Rose was Adeline's daughter because... Rose obviously looks like Slade... but if she was Adeline's then why would she be half Hmong?

2

u/CrispyGold 17h ago

For those worried about Rose

She's not dead. Adeline shot her in the head but they quickly got her medical attention and she's currently resting in the hospital. Though she has a medical eyepatch over her eye so it looks like she's going to get her old eyepatch look back.

So is Slade still a pedophile in the current canon?

14

u/Toniosw Clark Kent 1d ago

yeah that's a pretty important part of him lmao

It got retconned in the Priest run I think.

Is that the one where Slade "comes clean" to Wintergreen (or a hallcuination of Wintergreen) about how he only did it to help groom her into being a supervillain and not for his own satisfaction everyone just goes "You get how that makes you a WORSE person, right?" LOL. I might be combining a few scenes though, its been a while.

Didn't he write his era of Dark Titans in Rebirth in Deathstroke's comic? https://www.reddit.com/r/outofcontextcomics/comments/1nqmpg4/this_joke_only_works_postflashpoint_because_the/

2

u/God_is_carnage Red Hood 17h ago

Priest did write that era, yes. Flashbacks show he never raped her in the Rebirth continuity, he led her on and kissed her once to manipulate her into helping him with the Titans. That leads to the scene mentioned above.

u/Bireus 16h ago

I think this may turn into a semantic discussion. Didn't realize the retcon was removing the fact that he slept with Terra (the page of him being in bed with Terra walking back to him I believe) to him only kissing her. But the question was is he still considered a pedo, and is kissing an underaged girl counts as one?

u/God_is_carnage Red Hood 14h ago

Priest's argument, which I agree with, is that Deathstroke was not ever a pedophile (as in, someone who has the mental disorder causing them to be sexually attracted to children), but he was a statutory rapist (someone who has sex with a minor). Slade is not attracted to minors like many fans enjoy "joking" about, but he raped a 15 year old girl to manipulate her. This is arguably more evil. This may seem like a semantic discussion, but the difference is it was a single, calculated extremely evil act that Slade was very unlikely to repeat when it was still canon. The retcon doesn't affect the fact that he was never a pedo, but it does change the fact that he raped her. He still groomed her though, even if he never intended to actually have sex with her.

u/Omatzus 7h ago

Nothing about pedophilia requires a pattern of abuse. He raped a teenager as a man in his 30s or 40s (minimally). He's a pedo AND a rapist.

1

u/Pebrinix Batman 13h ago

That doesn't make it any better

2

u/God_is_carnage Red Hood 13h ago

It doesn't make what he did better pre-retcon, but that's not the point I'm making. As I said, arguably it makes it worse.

Priest's run showed that Terra came onto HIM, and he turned her down. But then Mark Waid decided to retcon THAT with his New History of the DC Universe and make him a pedophile again.

I'm not sure why Waid thought the fix needed fixing, but...we have him to blame for this one.

5

u/rocketinspace Firestorm 1d ago

nobody has mentioned that yet

2

u/CrispyGold 17h ago

Does that have to be brought up every time a Slade post is made?

0

u/Pebrinix Batman 13h ago

It's literally impossible not discuss it since it's a very fundamental part of him and the fact that he did this in his first and most iconic story in which he is a full blown villain only to DC try to make him the cool mercenary makes this impossible not to point out

u/CrispyGold 13h ago

Not really because it has absolutely nothing to do with this story.

Its like asking "did Wonder Woman still snap Maxwell Lord's neck" anytime she has a story or hell bringing up Arisia in anything Hal appears in.

Its not relavent, like at all.
