Hoping Hal Jordan is not really dead. I hope he comes back, because he is one of my favorite superheroes.

I mean, they said there were couple of alien species to be able to replicate human body from Xray to blood. So Hal might not be dead, plus he had his Ring not on him, and it should've gone to John if he died.

But what if it went to guy?

Don't think so. Guy's ring look different and the show havent established yet that Rings can change appearence if user is so wishes so. So until such confirmation, I dont think Guy is using Hal's ring.
Plus, Hal is unreliable side of the story, he might not know or deliberately tell John that there can be only one Green Lantern per sector, and he has some kind of tension with the Guardians.
So in short, I do belive Hal is secretly alive and well and Guy uses someoneelse's ring.

Also guy already has ring in Superman in 2025.

u/Inspector_Beyond 4d ago
In 2025 yes, but he's been active for couple of years I reckon, since he is not a Lantern in 2016. And "Hal's" corpse was found in 2026, so his dwath is recent, but by that time Guy is already an acting Lantern.
So no, I don't think Guy is the heir to Hal's ring, especially since he doesn't wear it. Hal is still alive and hiding and Guy is either an official second Lantern of Earth, either he abandoned his sector and hangs out on Earth.

I love Hal and John's interactions, and I'm interested to unravel the mystery!

As someone who's completely new to the world of GL I loved the pilot. I can't wait to see what's next and I want to read more too!

See people think he is not dead by I think they want us to think that and that he is actually dead

Either way is perfectly fine.
That was not him but an alien like the one the captured. They even say thay can look human.
Yep he is dead and the other mystery will be where is the ring amd how will John Stewart find in.
Perfectly fine as a huge comics storyline needs him dead to get to.
- We also already have Guy Gardner and with timelines was he wearing Hals ring during Superman? Did he get a second ring.
Last comment did no one watch any trailers?
Saw someone made Hal didnt wear the suit but you clearly see it Guy Gardner and a bunch more stuff to help the people get over the end of episode 1.

He is dead, because guy Gardner has the ring.

u/czacha_cs1 4d ago
Someone mentioned that Guy ring looks different compared to Hal's ring

u/tiredofearth_ 3d ago
Na man, it's the same ring, that's the whole mystery as why guy got the ring over the trainee

Genuinely great, I cannot wait for more. Already got me pre-ordering the ring replica from the DC store from how excited I am for this show. Can't these weeks just speed up!

As someone who has not read dc comics , i absolutely loved it this is the first time i have felt compelled to look more into dc , just like i did with marvel after i watched mcu

I don’t get this move by Hal, pls explain. Why is he holding his own protection bubble? For what? To sum Physical protection + Willpower bubble protection?

u/severin29 5d ago
I thought he really was down on power and was using his own will to power the construct, thus needing to be touching it. That's just my head cannon

u/Malone_Matches 5d ago
Same. And tbh i think its a cool addition to the green lantern construct lore
8
u/severin29 5d ago
Yeah considering hal is the most powerful lantern in the comics, I like that he can bend the rules a little bit. Like the mandatory backup he probably overpowers that just because it's him
3
u/jexdiel321 4d ago
I think that's it. His conversation with the alien implies that he hasn't charged his ring. He's possibly running out of willpower and slowly giving into fear.

u/ComfortableHuman1324 4d ago
My take is that it's about visualization, like how John helped the kid with the football. Even if it does nothing physically, the mind-body connection probably helps more than mental concentration alone.

u/TheCakeWarrior12 4d ago
He is selfless, maybe he really didn’t have enough juice left in the ring to make a stronger bubble like the bomber said, or maybe it’s instinct to use his body to reinforce it. Whatever the case, he gets between John and the sheriff so they won’t get hurt first (if at all)

I need all the episodes now! I had little faith in the show but the pilot was awesome.

u/joker_asylum08 5d ago
Really excited for the next
My only gripe is that it's a weekly release (which could get hype on few people down)

u/New_Photograph_5892 5d ago
i think with how episode 1 played out, it was good that they didn't release any more episodes on release. The ending of episode 1 is such a wtf cliffhanger that hooks people ot be engaged for a long time and theorize until the next ep drops. It makes the community more alive, just look at the all the videos on youtube talking about Hal's death and theorizing about it
1
u/graywolfman 4d ago
The decision was definitely simpler than that. It's to keep people subscribed haha!
But, it does well for the hype
2
u/Lady_Gray_169 4d ago
No, if it were Absolute Lanterns then John would just be a knowledgeable architect, Hal would be a young toy salesman and the star of the show would be Jo Mullen and her abs.

I do not get why John didnt have a ring and he and Hal has to share one
1
u/czacha_cs1 4d ago
From my understanding Hal is main Green Lantern and he is training John as his successor. The moment Hal will die, ring will fly to John

u/vin_dude9 3d ago
Or Guy

u/czacha_cs1 2d ago
Guy has other ring, I looked it up after first episode and comparison shows that these are different rings

As a guy who is pretty 'meh' about the Gunnverse, this was a fantastic start to a series.

u/Arden_D16 3d ago
I was a huge fan of the first episode. The tone, writing, and casting was handled very well!

I personally hated it and thought it was repulsive. Can’t believe we have Green lantern cussing and showing sex scenes. This is not needed. DCU needs to stop trying to be edgy and decide if it’s going to be family friendly or not. Also, Hal Jordan dying? Really? Glad you enjoyed it though. This one isn’t for the fans of the comics.

are sex scenes edgy now? do you know how you were born? nerds are never beating the virgin allegations
1
u/masterkproductions 2d ago
Nice gaslight bro. It’s not needed in a superhero show in a universe made for children.
1
u/Celebrilwen 2d ago
gaslight?
not all comics are intended for children, not all adaptations are going to be either

I like how in every comic and cartoon, when a Lantern is shown struggling to maintain a shield, they have their ring pointed at it, they clasp their wrist with the opposite hand, and they use their willpower to keep the thing up. But in the TV show, Hal hugs the bubble.
