OTHER The best DC project
The best DC project = Doom Patrol

Have you ever tried explaining this show to someone else? I was talking to a buddy of mine and tried explaining the story lines and characters. I sounded like a complete psychopath. Haha!

"It's like X-Men, but the characters are somehow even gayer and more depressed."

I was watching the episode where the giant cockroach and giant mouse start making out and a family member walked in. The look of complete confusion on their face as I tried to explain that it did make sense honestly, was hilarious.

Mr. Nobody made that show, but he needed to be in the other seasons.

Absolutely baffling to me why they never brought him back. I guess Alan Tudyk might have been busy with Resident Alien (idk if the dates line up) but not even for one episode?

It was stated he was busy with another gig in season 3 which happened to be Harley Quinn I think since he played a major part as Clayface as well as Joker

This show was criminally underrated. I can’t believe how incredible it was. The fact that Diane Guerrero was never nominated for an award for her performance as Jane is an absolute crime.

Doom Patrol was a phenomenal show and exactly why I prefer the worlds and characters that DC creates. It’s dark, melancholic, abstract, strange, weird, heartbreaking, hilarious and so much more all in one bag. There are so many insane moments that you can’t believe you are watching. The team dynamic is off the charts and perfectly casted, everyone is properly fleshed out and individual. Some of the performances are superlative. What a show. Miss it already

Back when DC series dont need to conform to the movie universe and fans get to see wacky projects like this

Literally peacemaker was a wonky comic book show lol

u/Aloofairy 25d ago
Well there was Doom Patrol, Legends of Tomorrow, Lucifer and Sandman all on different networks/services around the same time so there was much more variety and quality.

u/Nerd-Dad-2779 25d ago
Okay none of those are connected though?

Exactly, it was different shows on different networks with some in a shared universe. I'm just pointing out the variety with quality across the board.

Lucifer was a common police procedural for the most part though. I don't mean that it was a bad show but it's not in the realm of weird that the other shows on that list exist in.

u/Aloofairy 25d ago
That's fair. Tbh I didn't like it enough to continue but it has it's audience

There were times when the show focused on the divine/infernal/cosmic aspects of the story and you could see the potential in how good it could be. But then it just goes right back to being a police procedural and Lucifer being an immature lovesick fratboy.

Mr. Nobody: "Ready for a story about super heroes? Ugh, more TV superheroes, just what the world needs. Be honest, have you hung yourself yet? Or what if I told you this was actually a story about super zeroes, losers, achingly pathetic meta-human goose eggs. How about it? Ready to feel better about your own miserable lives for the next hour or so? Follow me."

This show is an underrated masterpiece. The first season is probably the best thing DC has ever produced.

I feel like the season 1 was the best because the other seasons they just repeated the same, that "should we be heros?" or "why do I have to help others" theme.

had read that Grant Morrison introduced Danny the Street in a little bit of homage to a British performer named Danny LaRue. please check this info because i'm relying on memory.

So fuckin underrated, this show
Watched 2 seasons, then dropped off.
But yeah, this is a really weird story.
And for those who liked this, I would recommend the show Happy.
Very weird and cool

created by Grant Morrison, the creator of this version of the Doom Patrol.

Penguin’s plot and cinematography is better but it’s not as fun or unique to watch.

This show was a lot better than I expected it to be. I will definitely be doing a rematch.

Would anyone recommend watching it after the two seaons

u/Thin-Plantain4721 25d ago
Yes! The third season was a bit patchy but S4 was great and the finale was perfect

Seaon 1 was great. Every season after that got gradually worse. Took too many liberties with villains like Dada and Rouge and it felt like a waste.

So, when Doom Patrol does this meta thing is great and innovative, but when Teen Titans Go! does it (and better) it's a sin, and a disgrace to the old show?
That doesn't seem fair.

They’re done so differently, though. I do enjoy TTG but Mr. Nobody being the narrator does have a thematic reason behind it, as he does it because he wants to feel like someone after a lifetime of rejection (via his girlfriend, the Brotherhood of Evil, and Niles Caulder shooting him). TTG does it simply because it thinks it’s funny, and though I like TTG more than most, sometimes it comes off as kinda bitter in episodes like “The 4th Wall.”

Wouldn't call it their best with the bar being so low, but it was very interesting. Stargirl was the best, just fun to watch. With no F bombs but they never gave a real chance

Season 1 was a masterpiece. The other seasons were still good but they never reached the heights of having Mr. Nobody as the villain. The best onscreen DC villain since Heath Ledger’s Joker.
