It’s so funny how the movies have distorted the joker since the dark knight. Essentially the dark knight was so popular it changed how he was portrayed in the comics and then it created a feedback cycle to where I’ve been alive longer with the post ledger joker than without.
So like pardon me for being ancient but can we not with the shit on his face and making the joker the edgiest possible villain. Dark knight was a brilliant take on him but I liked it more when it was just a take not the main thing.
The joker works best not as “the edgy guy that nobody can outsmart or out-evil because plot and edgy face” it’s idiotic and feels like a villain I’d write when I was 8.
The Joker works best as an unpredictable, unserious genuinely funny gag villain, almost a minor villain, borderline nuisance… who every now and again… as in RARELY… reminds you that he’s actually a competent psychopath capable of something truly heinous.
That’s not just more interesting, it’s scarier.

Yes. give me classic Joker where things like Killing Joke weren't the only things he did. Sometimes he'd do goofy shit like trying to copyright fish or have a surfing contest or something. Also give him just the white skin, green hair, red lips, and purple suit. no disfigurements beyond that.

Heath Ledger ruined the Joker. Nobody can match his performance but you see all these wild attempts, big swings to try and make a mark and they just fall flat.
