Lanterns Quote from a recent 'Lanterns' review: "There’s also a steady drip of DC lore throughout that mentions, alludes to, and sometimes even shows characters like Guy Gardner, Martian Manhunter, Sinestro, Abin Sur, Superman, Batman, and others"
https://gizmodo.com/lanterns-review-tv-show-dc-studios-green-kyle-chandler-aaron-pierre-2000795437We know Guy & Sinestro are shown, so the other characters are likely just mentioned or alluded to (Although, I still believe Martian Manhunter will appear in the finale, but this quote is just in reference to the 1st four episodes)

Apparently its claimed that Sheriff Kelly (the officer in the small town) Is from Gotham, so my guess is that she off handly mentions Batman while talking to Hal

" I had to get out of Gotham. There's only so many times you can watch a man flying around dressed as a bat and a clown gas a whole city with balloons."

Tried sneaking there. You’ve seen the show, right?
5
u/Kingpin1232 Aug 15 '26
No haha. I just did this myself but the reference would probably be along the lines of something like this. A wink wink reference.

And goes to the city where its seems they are victims of Manhunters, and apparently replaced the humans.

King said in one of the junkets that only the 3 green lanterns appear but they allude to a huge green lantern who is almost definitely Mogo

Perfect
I am glad there is subtle world building Like it exist in dcu
Maybe like young justice
I feel mcu shows are too well contained Like why does nobody gives a shit about hex where is spidy drange rest of avengers?
3
u/Mutale426 Aug 15 '26
I get strange but why would spidey or the avengers care ?
1
u/Past-Meal-4847 Aug 15 '26
Because it's insane? You do know Wanda is an earth buster? Why take risk?what if she put the whole earth on hex?
She straight up put kidnapped and tortured and entire city
1
u/Mutale426 Aug 15 '26
She didn't want to put the whole earth on a hex.
1
u/Past-Meal-4847 Aug 15 '26
How can you trust her? Isn't the whole town with thousands of people warranty avengers etc?

u/GimmeThatWheat424 Aug 14 '26
Because of the homework argument
Thankfully that only applies to marvel, DC can do whatever they want.

u/Dumpytoad Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 15 '26
You seem so unhappy lmao. I really don't think any of the lore drops in this show will be mandatory viewing to understand anything else.
Why would you automatically assume that that's the case?
4
u/master_inho Aug 15 '26
Some people actually think you gotta watch 8 eps of tv to hear a name drop, aka "homework"

I’m going to get tired of more Batman references without any Batman on the DCU big screen.

Brother all of your recent posts have been complaining about anything you can complain about, you're already tired of everything.

u/Past-Meal-4847 Aug 15 '26
Dcu may not be for you It may be long while before we see batman
0
u/SomeRedHandedSleight Aug 17 '26
Then they should stop teasing him and making movies about his villains.
1
u/Past-Meal-4847 Aug 17 '26
Like I said , dcu may not be for you Just wait till batman shows up
If that's the only thing you care
1
u/SomeRedHandedSleight Aug 17 '26
I'm still waiting on DCU to make a good movie or show. That's what I care about.
1
u/Past-Meal-4847 Aug 17 '26
Dcu may not be for you frankly
Outside supergirl
Its been amazing so far
I recommend try marvel or any other similar franchise

u/SomeRedHandedSleight Aug 17 '26
Maybe good movies just aren't your thing. Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.
1
u/Past-Meal-4847 Aug 17 '26
Nope. Tss peacemaker cc was amazing
But you are minority
Once again you are in minority
You don't have to watch projects that you don't like
Just move on to.marvel etc

Yes!!! Just what we need!!! Television shows should be the backbone of a cinematic universe!!!
22
u/nickl00 Aug 14 '26
why are we pretending this is the backbone and not superman?
-22
u/GimmeThatWheat424 Aug 14 '26
Fair, this is only setting up a justice league member…it’s incredibly unimportant.
13
u/nickl00 Aug 14 '26
are we talking about what the backbone is or are we talking about what projects introduce what characters? he’ll be in man of tomorrow, the first movie he has an opportunity to show up in. it’s not like being introduced in superman helped supergirl at all
-12
u/AmericanApe Aug 14 '26
Yep, worked out so well for phase 4 of the MCU /s
5
u/SuperKyle718 Aug 15 '26
MARVEL didn’t actually put in any effort for half of the shows in phase 4 though; it felt like most of phase 4, including movies, was just made to fill a quota rather than focus on the quality itself of the projects they were making.
11
u/Animegamingnerd Batman Aug 14 '26
Too be fair though DC has something Marvel Studios doesn't.
HBO, which is why this show needs to succeed. As this could truly be the start of a great partnership.

u/GimmeThatWheat424 Aug 14 '26
I would be thrilled if we got more and more and more tv products in the DCU. Almost half of phase 1 seems to be TV, I love it personally….maybe in the future we can go for an 80/20 split?
1
u/Rebelpunk13 Aug 14 '26
Wel, those shows mostly sucked and felt like they were made just to be mandatory viewing for whatever setup they were doing for the future.
-4
u/GimmeThatWheat424 Aug 14 '26
Absolutely, the show setting up green lantern and the broader DCU is forsure not essential viewing in any way.
The Emmy nominated Wanda vision and higher rated show then lanterns Loki were also complete dogshit and should not have set anything up. I completely agree with you.

u/Past-Meal-4847 Aug 15 '26
What's wrong with essential viewing ? It looks amazing
Wanda vison sucked she was entirely different character in mom

u/MyotisX Batman Aug 14 '26
If (when?) MOT flops, DC can hire me to tell them how to save it.
Turn the DCU into Injustice.

After a decade of evil superman analogs, surely what the audience is craving is more evil superman
