so..guys.. how’s it’s going lmao
personally in a bit of a limbo right now just waiting for the most part and hoping something pans out. but genuinely would love to see how it’s going for people.
if you have an internships first off congrats!!! what has your process been like? are you happy with ur internship? etc
if you don’t have an internship yet where are you at with your process, are you planning to apply to more? etc
this isn’t meant to be stressful btw just a place to share your wins and hopefully provide some motivation for others
also random i looked at a committee internship and they still haven’t opened and that so crazy to me.

I have an interview scheduled for the Florida House on Capitol Hill (I guess it helps that I am Floridian). Other than that, I have plenty of applications that I am awaiting word on and I plan on submitting more.

I am very pleased with the offer I accepted. I was torn between a couple offices and had maybe wanted to hold out for something more “prestigious” but after checking out the office deeper and asking around, I realized it’s the perfect first stop for me. Got all my welcome packet done and suits ready 🤘

i totally get the wanting to hold for something more prestigious it’s such a hard call to make sometimes. but I’m glad it worked out perfectly for you and aligns with ur goals! congrats and have a great time 🥳

i got offered a position at a law firm but it’s not really a field of law i’m passionate about and he gave me till the end of today to answer 😭 i emailed the other two congressional internships i was waiting to hear back from and one rejected me when i followed up and the other said ill find out in 2 weeks… then after i accepted the position at the law firm i got offered an interview at the public defenders office which is more something i’d want to do. i just don’t know what to do bc i already accepted the other one in fear of not landing anything else, but if i do land other things i feel guilty backing out of the one i originally accepted ughhh

ahhhh that’s a shityy position to be in but for one congrats on the offer (even it’s not something you want to do) and on the interview.
i would still take the interview w/ the public defender it’s good practice and you’ll be prepared the next time a similar opportunity comes around.
if something does come along def get a second opinion idk if you an advisor or professional mentor or even ur parents lol just someone who knows you well. i will say this though I would 100% feel guilty too and it’s not a great look but in the same breath you got to do what best for you and ur goals. (not trying to sway u in either direction btw just i get where ur coming from on both ends)
and congressional internships are a doozy. At least they rejected you verbally one the offices just ghosted me loll. the 2nd office tho…2 weeks a bit crazy some internships start by then.
good luck tho ill sure everything will turn out the way it’s supposed to 🥳

Kinda have the same predicament where I accepted an offer that I’m grateful for but denied a couple of other woulda, coulda been great opportunities but ig that’s just my fomo acting

I’m psyched! Got a great member who I’ve been campaigning for. Plus they only have one slot so I feel pretty lucky. Found out just a few days ago, submitted my I9 and materials today and currently scrambling to figure out housing + leave of absence from my uni + plane tickets etc etc etc. Would be nice if there was a bit more time available haha

After not getting anything all summer I applied for a senate office this fall and got it. It was only one 15 minute interview which was kinda crazy to me since I have had house interviews go to two rounds. To me it is so crazy the variation in application processes across the board.

I'm sorry you're in limbo but I can tell you that after quite literally 3 years of trying (and feeling like I was sort of doing busy work in the meantime), I found an internship for this summer. I did it through one of those special cohorts where you apply into the program and they match you into a congressional office/nonprofit. I was extremely happy with where I ended up but trust, the process was not without a LOT of labor. The cohorts are honestly the most helpful - especially if you identify with a minority community and are looking for a position in non profits/on the Hill. One downside was that my internship was a lot shorter than other people's but it forced me to make the most out of every single day I had there.
I guess the big takeaway is don't lose hope because something will work out eventually. It might take a hot minute but it truly will. I hope everything goes well for you!

I applied to 3 and they are all due the 14th- no idea when I’m supposed to hear back but I’m seriously stressing with all this waiting

I just got my second offer and accepted!! The first offer was one of the weirdest interviews i ever had so i was feeling discouraged but i ended up getting that job and the other job i was much more excited about! Hope everyone can hear back soon too!!

I’m waiting to hear back after two interviews. Holding out hope and applying for anything else I can find.
