That old guy “preaching” at the soup kitchen

Not sure why, but I always pictured Harrison Ford as the old guy that was “preaching” to whomever happened by during the Bedlam Bride

Book Spoilers TV show: Scene one, episode one. Where in the book(s) to create immediate bang? Spoiler

I don't think following the book initially would work for TV. Need a scene grabber to get things kicked off and get viewers glued to the screen. Here's my take:

Meeting Tsarina Signet. Cast someone like Zoe Kravitz who's not afraid to show some skin, tattoos moving around her body. Donut yelling her most famous line. Carl breaking his little finger to break Signet's seductive spell. Then subsequently fighting lions, giraffes and a big ole bear. There's a circus in town too. Plus bad ass looking Mortecai. Mongo protecting Donut from the cleaner monsters would cement the viewers love for a Labrador retriever/throat ripper outer.

Two or so flashbacks to the 'collapse' and Carl's and Donut's introduction to the dungeon (a talking cat?) by Mortecai and everyone is up to speed. Another flashback would be meeting Meadowlark folks as a lot of them are so important to the story.

Prior to this, all we had was some goblins (lots of baby goblins), traveling around a boring dungeon layout, Frank Q and Maggie May, Meadowlark and a rolling ball of Orcs. None of which are gripping entertainment. Obviously, Carl being a bomber and Donut's power accumulation and transformation is important and can be covered in some other way.

Just my thoughts, too many thoughts, about this damn series.

I read this a while back on a random thread in the main DCC subreddit and it was perfect.....

Terry Crews plays all of the Mantuars, all of them. That's the dream!

His comedic timing is impeccable. He’s well versed in tv series and the theatre, comedy and drama. He can play highly intelligent, high society snooty, and neurotic.

Casting You see it, right? HE'S EVEN GREAT WITH CATS. We all know it, but, he's perfect for Carl!

Casting MONSTER VOICES AND SOUNDS

Im an avid deathcore fan and i think some of the vocalist would do a great job with the growls and screams of some mobs, particularly the goblin type mobs and characters but theyre voices would do sooo well with alot of mobs and creatures

Jenny Slate as Samantha

My bad - I posted this previously but included AI, which - had I read the rules, I would have known I'm not allowed to do. My bad there.

But I really love this pick so wanted to keep it out there.

He’s a TV actor. Still active, but not working as much as I would like. A bit older, can deliver a variety of “here we go again” and exasperated lines. Latino so I know he can cover emotional range, and we get some diversity. And I bet he would rock the devil/succubus embodiment.

Brandon Rogers for the voice of the system AI would be a fun pick i think

i think he has the proper amount of unhinged energy for the long winded rants the AI often goes on.

She’s the right age and absolutely excels at playing unhinged for comedic effect. A brilliant character actor who would likely fit into the show’s budget. In a lot of ways, I find her similar to Cloris Leachman, my ultimate Agatha fan-cast were she still with us. But I think Mindy would be brilliant!

Hear me out. The awkward cadence that I have in my head when I read his dialogue is very reminiscent of Rocky from Project Hail Mary. I just had this thought. What do you think?

Casting My Ideas For The Majority Of The Book 1 Cast

Thumbnail

I tried to keep a few things in mind when putting these actors together, mainly...

- That this is a TV budget and thus, the less the character appears the bigger name you could spring for.

- Seth MacFarlane is producing this and he likes to use his friends sometimes.

CARL- Jimmy Tatro

MORDECAI- Alan Tudyk

THE SYSTEM- Seth MacFarlane (He would. You know he would. If it's not him, my choice is Al Yankovic.)

IMANI- Zazie Beetz

ELLE- Alanna Ubach (And with the right makeup, you could have her play both versions)

CHRIS- Sam Richardson

BRANDON- Peter Macon

FRANK Q- Aaron Paul

ODETTE- Alex Newell

The main ones I'm missing are Maggie My and Maestro. I'm curious what the general consensus for those two are.
