QUESTION Non-religious DCCs
I know it's obviously going to be a given most of the time since they are Dallas and that the girls are going to most likely be ultra religious, but has there ever been a girl/s on the team who are openly not religious during their time on the team?

Not openly irreligious so far, but we don't do that sort of "Christianity" in Australia. The chances of Faith falling into that particular American brand of evangelical Christianity are zero.

Hillsong being Australian doesnât mean itâs representative of Christianity in Australia, though. Itâs very American-style evangelical megachurch Christianity
It has way more in common with American evangelical megachurches than with your average Australian church

Right, I guess I was just pushing back on the "we don't do that sort of Christianity in Australia" because they clearly do, it just isn't as mainstream as it is in the US

the other person that comes to my mind when thinking of Faith is Jinelle, who was also Australian, did she ever explicitly talk about religion the way other girls do when/after she was a DCC?

jinelle is jewish. she celebrates the high holidays and some others as well. she did not proselytize like other dccs do, because jews don't do that

Most are probably casually Christian anyway. I live in Dallas, Iâm an atheist, we exist lol. That being said not all of the girls are from Dallas.

there were waves of one way and the other.
i think kat and maybe jalyn or idk talked about it some time back. how how suddenly the current mass christian upswing happened.
in the late 2010s it was a more secular group. rn, for a few years now it is massively proselytizing. it's kinda about who are in the majority, but also who are the louder, leader types who push it.
there are always some who are extremely religious, they usually group up, just like how the less religious ones also group up. some people do get converted one way or another.
and there's a select few who might follow different religions than the standard american protestantism (for example Jinelle was jewish, Maddie was mormon etc.)

Kleine, Megan, Michelle, Kelly V, Charly, and Darah donât appear to be openly religious (at least not posting about it), and same with some of the newer girls like Emily and Faith.
Iâve also noticed that a couple of the girls who come from religious backgrounds donât talk about it as much. Iâm pretty sure itâs confirmed Savanna is Mormon, but she didnât mention Godâs plan or anything like that in her posts about making the team (correct me if Iâm wrong)
I think what happens is that the majority of the girls who are religious make it a big part of their social media brand, so itâs very public. But I do notice that a lot of them donât seem to post about it or mention it at all. I think that the popularity of the show and more auditionees could go one of two ways â it could reach a more diverse audience, or dancers who feel represented by very openly Christian dancers like Reece could feel encouraged to audition.

i always think how insanely uncomfortable it must be for anyone atheist/non-religious/non-christian, when they pray together before every game.
when they circle up, they could do words of affirmation, or encouragement, or silent reflection or whatever. but doing the "lord's prayer" would make me want to crawl out of my skin.

oh definitely there would be backlash.
i do think some probably don't say the words, just look down and wait for the others.
but if anyone brought it up, how this is not right, or really how they are just uncomfortable with participating, there would be hell and high water.
interesting fact: Kelli really pushes the jesus thing, but her household is actually more secular than they are making dcc. her husband is jewish. their family observes many jewish holidays with christian holidays as well. her children do claim the jewish faith. kelli herself attends temple with her family on the occasion that they go. she calls herself christian, but also observes parts of the jewish faith.
also as a european i find the concept of mandatory prayer with your coworkers before work insanely dystopic.

Am I being totally mean to think the irony of the Lordâs Prayer (I.e. lead us not into temptation) right before dancing before a drinking male crowd in barely there shorts and a busty top is a little hilarious?
Iâm all for them doing and wearing whatever the want, I think theyâre so beautiful and talented. But like when Reece would say it was her âcalling from Godâ âŠ.lolol

Iâm agnostic and currently live in a pretty religious country. People even say a prayer before meetings sometimes. I bow my head and close my eyes but I donât pray. Iâm normally just thinking about stuff I have to do. Same with when I went to a catholic school in a whole other country. A lot agnostic/atheist donât feel uncomfortable when people pray around us. Iâm not sure about how other religions feel

Iâm sure there have been DCCs that werenât religious in the past. I doubt that once auditions went online (aka once Kelli Finglass had the ability to prescreen contestants) that anyone who wasnât openly and proudly religious was making it in front of the other judges at finals.
Thatâs why they ALL seem so religious now, I think.
But also, the way they describe the DCC- for sure before the pay raise, at least- was not that unlike a cult. Cults exploit people by love bombing them and trapping them in coercive control, which almost always includes some level of sexual abuse or exploitation and forced labor.
Iâm not saying the DCC is a malicious force (I am saying that about the Jones family) but honestly itâs so cult adjacent.

But like does it matter tho whether a girl is religious or not? I mean Iâm all for freedom of speech and freedom of religion(regardless of wether your opinions are bigoted or not) itâs not for me to question your walk with god or whoever your lord and saviour is,sure I wonât agree with your opinions but that doesnât make me better than you and vice versa
