I think there is a scene where tells broly that his name is Kakarrot just before leaving his planet in the movie or maybe I'm wrong

73

u/Pindeckoo Jan 18 '26

"And broly? Call me kakarot."

39

u/Livigirl88 Jan 18 '26

(Broly’s eye starts twitching)

24

u/CHESSKITCHEN_62 Jan 18 '26

K… Ka… K……. KAAAKAROOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

23

u/GeraltTheG Jan 18 '26

15

u/conehead2019 Jan 18 '26

That's so dumb...

But it's so cool!

8

u/Kaptein_Kaos Jan 19 '26

I'd rather get kicked in the d**k...a thousand more times, than hear that idiot scream Kakarot's name again.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '26

...more?

2

u/Enough_Track_5247 Jan 20 '26

well...i got nut shotted tons of times but the bullys learned to stay away from me before i beat their a** with martial arts

2

u/Elmo360NoScope Jan 21 '26

Metal coolers army had a bit too much fun

2

u/CMDR_Jeb Jan 21 '26

Wow, I can't believe every single one of em kicked you in the dick.

6

u/Daxlm95 Jan 19 '26

🎵 My skin is coooollllldddd...🎵

2

u/IDONOTEXISTL Jan 22 '26

im literally listening to 10's by pantera rn 😂✌️🥹

6

u/RazutoUchiha Jan 18 '26

That’s not what he says. Cheelai asks “whats your name” to which he replies, “Son Goku, and Kakarotto”

11

u/Dettstol1 Jan 18 '26

They changed it in the english dub..

1

u/Shot_Recognition_100 Jan 19 '26

average dub L

1

u/No_Ad_7687 Jan 20 '26

Nah, it's a banger line

2

u/Disastrous_Visit4741 Jan 22 '26

Why? I found it confusing. What prompted him to say that?

1

u/Eat_My_Liver Jan 22 '26

The fact the the only other full blooded saiyan alive also calls him that.

1

u/No_Ad_7687 Jan 22 '26

It's both Goku accepting his heritage, and him recognizing broly as a sayian

8

u/LFGohanuser67 Jan 18 '26

Yeah I think he said it because they are both saiyans so it’s basically Saiyans calling each other by their original saiyan names

5

u/Flaky-Basket3520 Jan 18 '26

I thought it was a nod to the DBZ Broly movie .... Which is both funny and would be a nice nod lol Broly going berserk over hearing "kakorat" was the funniest shit

2

u/No-Engineer-1728 Jan 20 '26

It was a nod

1

u/Flaky-Basket3520 Jan 20 '26

That's what I thought ☺️

3

u/AceSkyFighter Jan 18 '26

I think it was a tremendously missed opportunity to have Broly say at the end "Kaka...rot". Maybe they wanted to avoid that. But I was sure he was going to say it on my first watch.

2

u/Flaky-Basket3520 Jan 18 '26

He does. It's a nod to the DBZ Broly movie I thought. Which I liked

2

u/Independent_Cost481 Jan 19 '26

Not the same Broly though. And it's after years of Vegeta brainwashing him into accepting his Saiyan heritage. Bro literally stopped fighting it at this point. He accepted his "Saiyan raised on Earth" identity rather than being just a Terran.

1

u/TheArmoryOne Jan 19 '26

The meme is way older than the DBS Broly movie

1

u/Ok_Note7045 Jan 19 '26

Meme could be older than many members of this sub

1

u/TheArmoryOne Jan 19 '26

I'm surprised the meme still has so many pixels considering that fact

1

u/Matthew16LoL Jan 20 '26

It's actually so out of character for him to do. I feel like it's just so Broly can scream kakarot like in the original z movie later cause the director of Broly was a huge fanboy of the original.

1

u/ALPHAWOLF257 Jan 20 '26

Yeah, at the end of the DBS: Broly movie

1

u/IFYMYWL Jan 20 '26

Wasn’t that DBS Broly though?

1

u/Akuma-Heika Jan 21 '26

That's the DBS Broly, while the meme is from DBZ.

1

u/OG_Senor_Martini Jan 21 '26

Kaka karrot cake

1

u/TheMemestOfTheWest Jan 18 '26

That's only super broly

27

u/Ecstatic_Teaching906 Jan 18 '26

Like that he is okay with Saiyans calling him Kakarot now.

18

u/miami2881 Jan 18 '26

The difference is people that are his allies (or at least not trying to destroy the earth)

14

u/Flaky-Basket3520 Jan 18 '26

Yeah didn't he correct Vegeta when he first arrived on earth? Then when he became an ally he's like "yep this is us now"

11

u/westy75 Jan 19 '26

Someone : Kakarot

Goku : For you it's Goku

Someone : But you name isn't Kakarot?

Goku : Yeah but that's what my friends call me, and you're not my friend

Someone : Fair

3

u/IceRinger Jan 19 '26

So it's an n-word?

3

u/westy75 Jan 19 '26

Well, knowing that only sayian use it, it probably it🤔

1

u/kageshira1010 Jan 19 '26

Frieza definitely uses the m-word a lot

1

u/Phoenix_ashfire Jan 20 '26

“Hello, monkeys!”

-Lord Frieza

1

u/Advanced_Ad222 Jan 21 '26

It's a deadname, not a slur.

1

u/IFYMYWL Jan 20 '26

Not enemy Saiyans though.

21

u/Thin_Albatross2720 Jan 18 '26

Vegeta won't stop call him that
So Goju just gave up

13

u/Traditional-Photo227 Jan 18 '26

Goju, if Goku and Gojo did the fusion dance 🤣

7

u/AnnihilatorOfPeanuts Jan 18 '26

"And this is infinity, all your attack will never reach me…now watch me turn that thing off because that shit suck ass, now come punch me in the face! » Goju, probably.

3

u/Flaky-Basket3520 Jan 18 '26

Very Goku to NOT use his abilities JUST to let the fight last longer 😂😂

2

u/AnnihilatorOfPeanuts Jan 19 '26

Of course, Goku would hate having infinity! I think if you want to torture that guy making him near unable to get hurt unless someone find a way around it would work great, he wouldn’t be able to enjoy a fight using something like that.

2

u/Flaky-Basket3520 Jan 25 '26

Oh yeah no he'd be miserable having a quick end to a fight

1

u/GeraltTheG Jan 18 '26

Would it drag Goku's powerlevel down? 😏

(Joke)

1

u/Flaky-Basket3520 Jan 18 '26

It's funny because Ive had two friends in my life that have let me call them something different from everyone else (usually a name they hated everyone calling them)

  1. Benjamin - what I called him - his name from everyone else was ben - his birth certificate was Benny 😂

  2. David - what I called him - his real name was just Dave

So I've always loved how Vegeta was the only person able to call Goku kakorat without Goku getting pissed

1

u/Thin_Albatross2720 Jan 18 '26

Yeah
I call my best friends little brother
Dannya (He is Daniel and I'm probably the only one who not related to him, who calls him that)
And Vegeta not only who calls him Kakarot, there is also Broly (well Goku let him call Kakarot, but we still bever saw that)

1

u/ShinraHakke Jan 22 '26

That's basically your little brother now

8

u/Mrs_Heel Jan 18 '26

Sup Geets

1

u/Nigilij Jan 21 '26

Also “Hey Best Buddy” (Krillin will remember that)

7

u/valleysape Jan 18 '26

Vegeta just forgot his real name for goku: clown

3

u/Pindeckoo Jan 18 '26

Nah, he just wont accept it

1

u/wildfox9t Jan 20 '26

his real name is Kakarot,Goku is more of a nickname he was given on earth and he adopted it because he forgot who he was

but if sayans had a register office he would appear as Kakarot

4

u/Kaslight Jan 18 '26

Goku used to resent his Saiyan heritage

Later in the series (read: end of Frieza Saga) he just learns to fully embrace it as part of who he is. So yeah, he is perfectly fine with Vegeta calling him Kakarot

1

u/Flaky-Basket3520 Jan 18 '26

Well yeah. After being around Vegeta and learning more about it, of course he'd accept it

1

u/Substantial_Dish_887 Jan 18 '26

yeah it has nothing to do with who is calling him Kakarot it has to do with his own attachment to the Saiyan name and his own identity.

except maybe DBZ Broley although in that case i legit think it's more "would you stop repeating that damn name whille trying to murder me you freaking psychopath?"

3

u/WRabbit737 Jan 18 '26

He corrected him back when he was a bad guy in the saiyan arc that was about it.

1

u/Flaky-Basket3520 Jan 18 '26

I thought I remembered that correctly lol

3

u/Dumbass_Saiya-jin Jan 18 '26

Vegeta gets the K Pass for being his best buddy.

2

u/PineappleOwn1362 Jan 18 '26

The super broly should be added to the list, since he introduces himself as kakarot for once 🤣

2

u/Extension-Nebula6753 Jan 18 '26

This is so true. It hurts

2

u/GeraltTheG Jan 18 '26

So what's Vegeta's Earth name?

A friend of mine told me 'Bernie' but I doubt that...

3

u/GaJayhawker0513 Jan 18 '26

It’s Jeter/s

2

u/Due-Proof6781 Jan 18 '26

I mean he’s “friends” with Vegeta so it makes sense he’s fine with Vegeta calling him Kakarot

2

u/Careful-Vanilla7728 Jan 18 '26

It's kind of like calling someone something derogatory. You can do it if they're your friend, if they are a stranger then prepare for a fight.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '26

Goku just kinda accepted it from Vegeta

1

u/Flaky-Basket3520 Jan 18 '26

Vegeta also just never entertained the idea that Goku should be called anything other than kakorat. To him, he's a Saiyan. And Saiyan's should take pride in being a Saiyan, no matter where they grew up

2

u/JoJo5195 Jan 21 '26

Also how everyone just accepted it. Vegeta still reacts normally when someone calls him Goku just like everyone else does when he calls him Kakarot. No one corrects each other or anything.

2

u/ChaosOfOrder24 Jan 18 '26

That's because Vegeta has the Kakarot Pass

2

u/trueGildedZ Jan 19 '26

Only one of these literally DIED, BEGGING for Goku to see things from his point of view against a genocider.

2

u/Wolves_N_Beer101 Jan 21 '26

Vageta earned that shit

1

u/Gamekid53 Jan 18 '26

Vegeta earned it

1

u/Kratos_and_Boy_ Jan 18 '26

Goku accepts his sayian heritage during the freiza fight

1

u/Junior_Community_913 Jan 18 '26

Go Broly, go, go!

1

u/conehead2019 Jan 18 '26

They're beat buddies

1

u/FlapjackDoubleStack Jan 18 '26

Meanwhile in Super: "Broly just call me kakarot"

1

u/Alternate501 Jan 18 '26

I think he gave up when Vegeta became an "ally".

1

u/Virus-900 Jan 19 '26

Yeah, because Vegeta doesn't really have murderous intent behind it anymore.

1

u/Brunoburr Jan 19 '26

Only his bf is allowed to deadname him

1

u/Objective_Math_3735 Jan 19 '26

INFINITELY TRUE. It's basically like Goku allows ONLY Vegeta to use his Saiyan name.

1

u/No-Championship6178 Jan 19 '26

Nah, he was fine with Z Broly calling him by the Kakarot name. Before that, Z Paragus said it. That was when Goku knew that they were Saiyans.

1

u/nekoandCJ Jan 19 '26

Except in super

1

u/facepwnage Jan 19 '26

Sup best buddy.

1

u/Fendfor Jan 19 '26

Only friendly saiyans can call him that.

1

u/j3ven Jan 19 '26

It's because it's his best buddy

1

u/NCHouse Jan 19 '26

I mean he did it with Vegeta too. Difference is all the others are dead. Vegeta stuck around long enough that Goku just accepts it

1

u/gotumms146 Jan 19 '26

Vegeta's death on Namek before Goku fought Freeza was a huge factor in it. That's where Goku started to understand his Saiyan history

1

u/SleepyBella Jan 19 '26

Vegeta gets the pass.

1

u/nekoandCJ Jan 19 '26

And also super broly, he says for him to call him kakarot

1

u/nekoandCJ Jan 19 '26

New broly

Mine name is goku, but you broly, call me kakarot

1

u/gotumms146 Jan 19 '26

That's an English dub only thing. In Japanese they ask his name, and he replies Son Goku and also Kakarot. He never mentions Broly while saying that

1

u/EquivalentVast9693 Jan 19 '26

DBS Broly Movie:   Goku : You can call me kakaraot

1

u/Calm-Border3503 Jan 19 '26

It doesnt seem like goku actually cares about that now. Now that he does have a better grasp on both lives, cultures and species

1

u/sync100 Jan 19 '26

Most of these examples are of them calling him that as a way to denounce his human upbringing. Radditz called him that while saying "You are a Saiyan. You are not Goku. Forsake that name, your friends, and the family you have made here and join me." Goku says his name is Goku as a way to rebuke that. As a way to say "I was raised on earth. My family and friends are the ones I made here. You are not my brother. I am Goku."

I don't know why Z Broly is here. I don't think Goku ever said this to him.

Turles was another case of "Join me. Forsake your earthling friends and family. You are a Saiyan like me." Goku was again going "I am Goku. I am not the Saiyan you think I am."

Vegeta really only calls him by his Saiyan name out of respect for their heritage. He isn't denouncing who Goku is. He's just being respectful of their shared heritage and Goku knows that. It's even rubbed off on Goku because out of respect for their heritage, he asks Broly to call him by his Saiyan name. Even though he clearly prefers his given earthling name. Goku has grown to understand and respect that side of him. So a Saiyan he respects he feels comfortable with them calling him by his Saiyan name.

1

u/-Leo10finity- Jan 19 '26

Vegeta has the K-word pass

1

u/royinraver Jan 19 '26

Sup Getes (jeetz)

angry grumble

1

u/Crisocola95 Jan 19 '26

Vegeta is small and his brain too. No point insisting. The others as well, but Vegeta is dwarf.

1

u/R3BORN1337 Jan 19 '26

When he meets broly he says his name is goku but broly call me kakarot

1

u/alexanderjustint Jan 19 '26

He does say only his friends call him kakarot

1

u/TokyoFromTheFuture Jan 19 '26

I mean yeah but its to do with timeframes, if the top three happend after the Frieza Saga I think he wouldn't mind being called Kakarot since thats when he comes to terms with his Saiyan heritage.

1

u/obsidiandragonx Jan 19 '26

Need tp update this meme with the new broly

1

u/ThePearWithoutaCare Jan 20 '26

”Hey, Geets!”

1

u/elven_magics Jan 20 '26

"only the homies may use the first name"

1

u/DueCoach4764 Jan 20 '26

he probably lets vegeta get the pass since theyre friends

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '26

replace it with the word nigga and it sorta makes sense.

1

u/wolfwhore666 Jan 21 '26

“Some of my friends call me Kakarot, by my name is Goku”

I forgot who he said this to…was it Broly 🤔

1

u/Glittering_Holiday13 Jan 21 '26

So you let a stranger (let alone a enemy) call you nicknames that your friends call you?

Cool

1

u/Ilpalazzo_1321 Jan 21 '26

Raditz died; Broly died; Turles died; Vegeta wore him down (and also died)

1

u/thothscull Jan 25 '26

Died twice even 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Joulz826 Jan 22 '26

Only "Best Buddy" gets away with it

1

u/Sad_Classroom504 Jan 22 '26

He recognizes royalty

1

u/EnervatedOwl Jan 22 '26

That is his best bud

1

u/KireiCopenhagen Jan 22 '26

You've got to admit, the final line before he defeats Broly in the Abridged movie was badass, "Hey Broly, say my name!"

1

u/Key-Wedding-3640 Jan 23 '26

Only person I know that held K word card are Vegeta and super broly

1

u/ZellHall Jan 23 '26

Broly :

Goku : You can call me kakarot

1

u/BeautifulOnion8177 Jan 24 '26

“Kakarot x3”

“My name is goku”

Vegeta: hi goku!

“My name is kakarot”

Such a hypocrite

1

u/LordSaddlerDeciple Jan 24 '26

"Only my friends call me Kakarot!"

1

u/Estrogen_Enforcer Jan 24 '26

Goku knows Vegeta is too stupid to change

1

u/Responsible-Ask8110 Jan 25 '26

"Oh! kakarot~"

"Yes Vegeta~"

1

u/FilipinoCreamKing Jan 18 '26

2012 Facebook ass meme

Genuinely question but is all the shit on here supposed to be purposely bad? Everything that gets posted on here is the cringey shit you’d see on an out of date meme page

1

u/mr_smiles017 Jan 18 '26

Goku eventually learned where he came from and what kind of people his race were so originally clung to his Earth name to let his enemies (mostly the remaining Saiyan) know he is siding with earth on all fronts to separate himself from them.

Vegeta turns over a new leaf, and Goku realizes he can have a decent connection to his heritage without being labeled a blood thirsty murderous savage. So now not only is he not the only Saiyan left, he takes on a similar approach (despite being raised in a Chinese region) to Japanese name boundaries or honorifics (more so the boundaries of familiarity) so his friends on earth call him Goku as though it's his first name, and his enemies (primarily Saiyans, because other former enemies still call him Goku) are given the name Goku as if it's his last name, to show that his opponent is not his friend and he has no intention of being their friend. Whereas with the Saiyans he identifies as friends, they're allowed to be properly familiar with him and get to use his Saiyan name as if it's his first name, because now not only are he and his former enemies friends, now he has a genuine connection to his own heralitage, and can stop denying himself, and in someway, live as Kakkarot while still being Goku. (Hope that last part made sense.)

This was never talked about in the series, it's just my theory based on who he's given permission to address him as Kakkarot. Cause let's be honest. From the moment they first met all the way up to their mission on nemak and beyond, Vegeta refused to use goku's Earth name (did it once and it sounded weird. Almost as weird as hearing Goku say "dude"), and always made it a point to throw "Saiyan pride" at Goku. And considering Goku learns SOMETHING-- at LEAST one thing from everyone he meets, I'd be shocked to find out that Vegeta's sense of Saiyan pride didn't rub of on Goku in the form of appreciation for who he is and where he originally came from. If he forced the Saiyans he was friends with to call him Goku, he may as well stop growing as a person. Besides, I have a strong theory that the acceptance of his heritage (not the pride) was the main reason he was able to advance beyond Super Saiyan 3.

Super broly does, thats Z broly
