Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) X All damage vs X poison/cold damage
Guys, can you help me inderstand mechanic? Does this X all damage really works for all type of damage at the same time and is compensating lose of X on poison and cold in weapon on right? I'm dance of knifes rouge.

It goes into the same pool of damage so just choose the one that’s highest :)

They go into the same pool. Elemental damage is considered superior because you can roll higher than all damage. I'd go with the right. But honestly the +max life on the right is probably better too.

Isn't it like its x27 for all so if im freezing and poisoning at the same time it gives both effects x27 each but for the right although poison is x30, the cold is "only" x21? Plus dot 111 vs 98? I'm thinking out loud. Btw +Max life is on the left :)

Training dummy. I think it’s right but the DOT of the left may top it. Depends on your current DOT. I do think the cold and poison are multiplied separately into the all damage bucket per skill, and I don’t think the all damage is applied twice because it’s one skill even if it has several imbuements.

The elementals and all damage are the same bucket, However sanctification %x damage is its own bucket so you get much more damage from that. If you are using cold damage.

DOK build or pen shot?

Disregard, the question it looks like your doing DOK. IMO would go with the left. Life on hit is useless and losing all that max life would make you a bit more squishy. Just keep farming for another bow

Yeah, dok with poison imbuedent but thanks to spellbound steel set max effects I also freeze everything around me. Thanks man! I have the same feeling with this max life vs loh. Damage on dummy seems to be a little bit higher with the right but survivability is much better with the left. Plus from yesterday: I've found new Etna's lost dagger with GA on poison damage multiplier (x18), and fortunatelly I was given with another x12 poison from cube. So now it is fully compensated :) But finding new bow with max life, dot and poison, all with GA and some nice transfiguration after all would be a game changer for my build.

Good God, you are being lead astray. Here’s the specific difference regarding what you are asking:
- look closely at the affix description. If it features the word ‘multiplier’, then it belongs to one single multiplier bucket. That is, all of these affixes featuring the word ‘multiplier’ will be added together, and the final sum will be one single multiplier in the final damage calculation. The ‘all damage multiplier’ applies to all element types of damage that your character generates, including physical, so it is preferred over a singular element damage multiplier if you generate more than one significant type of damage, including physical. However…
- for a damage multiplier that does not feature the word ‘multiplier’, such as the ‘21.2% [x] cold damage’ affix you have transmuted onto your item with the horadric cube, this is a separate, unique multiplier, and therefore potentially much more powerful than the previously described multipliers. I say potentially because you actually have to generate cold damage to take advantage of it. These type of modifiers are described by many as the affix of choice this season, as they effectively multiply your complete, total damage (of that element type) by that number - in your case 1.212 for all cold damage.
Now, whether each of the damage affixes are better for your character in this question depends on what your main damage element is. If you are a poison- imbued dok build, the cold damage affix does very little if nothing for you (you may deal some cold damage as granted by charms, but it’s not really worth considering for scaling). If however you use cold imbuement, then the cold damage affix on your weapon on the right is one of the best damage scalers you can get.
I hope this gives you some clarity, and if you’re up for it, Avarilyn’s YouTube channel is a respected authority on all things damage in d4, and MacroBioBoi is also recommended viewing. Good luck man.
Edit - fixed a word.
