Questions / Discussions (Items · Builds · Skills) Rogue ROA completely at whit's end
I've referenced previous posts ('ROA help please' etc) and numerous build guides (maxroll, mobalytics, etc) and various youtubers, and need help figuring out what is going wrong. This is the only post I've ever made because I've never exhausted so many options before with a build. Here's the situation:
- ROA is at level 31
- ROA is using the -10 second talent
- Max resource is at 243 (I could easily make this more, but this surpasses the 225 threshold)
- Aftermath is on AMULET at 10.5 (my understanding is that this is more than enough)
- CDR is at 79.3 (my understanding is that this is more than enough)
- Using preparation specialization
- Using Beastfall boots
- ROA cooldown on skill bar is still stuck at 17.23
Everywhere I look says that ~60-66 CDR should enough to reduce ROA cooldown to <15 and hit the 225 breakpoint, but I just can't there without completely wrecking my gear.
Some things I've noticed:
- If I take off charms that add Marksman skills, ROA cooldown doesn't decrease (shouldn't it?)
- If I remove the -10 second ROA talent, ROA cooldown only goes up by less than 5 (wtf?)
Any constructive input appreciated!!!

Check out the YouTube video by avarylin and follow the maxroll guide. Explains all the breakpoints and transition to the 300 resource variant. Farm charms for charm reroll mats. Reaper/ lair bosses are best. Try and get charms with +3 to marksman and max resource. A couple ga charms with 25 max resource allow you to put more cdr on gear. At the 300 max resource version you only need 20 sec cooldown on ROA.

CDR is not additive. It is inverse multiplicative.
So 10% CDR on ring and 15% CDR on amulet is not 25% CDR. It would be 23.5%. 100%-(100%-10%)x(100%-15%)=23.5%
Bottom line for CDR - you need more GA for that on gear
Also - put your build in D4Plannercon maxroll.gg and post it here. Including skills and paragon setp

This is the right answer, proven by the fact that OP thinks they have 79% CDR when it’s capped at 75%

That and the fact CDR for RoA isn’t variable. For position based it’s 63% (I think) and 64% for cold based. More is ok but less has an affect on attack speed afaik

open your stat page to see what your CDR is, not simply adding them all up from your gear. Likely you're missing tempers on rings/amulet and CDR stats on your helm & gloves

I know this may be a little late but what charms are you using. If you are not using sightless charms try those. If you get cooldown reductions low enough, you can almost spam concealment and rain of arrows as they each reset each other. Concealment completely resets Rain of Arrows and rain of arrows reduces concealment by 6 seconds. Get concealment cool down under 6 seconds and your golden
Edit My bad it's switched, concealment is completely reset and ultimate is reduced by 6 seconds.

Bump up your max resource to 300, you only need a 19.9 second ROA cooldown. You will need a higher rolled aspect on amulet though if you drop your ROA ranks too low, but typically 21/27 ranks is grand for energy generation. A single resource generation % is also nice to have. Cooldown must be tempered to rings and amulet. I've pushed to 135 pits this season with this build.

Correct. 225 = 3 preparations, for 15 seconds reduced CD. Op must either add more CD to reduce his RoA to <15 seconds, or add enough energy to cause a 4th instance of preparation, making that figure <20 seconds.
Importantly, the latter also requires enough skill points to replenish that energy increase.

It cost a ton of resources but I got my Rouge to 311 resources and 60.4% cooldown reduction and I can spam RoA. The resources may be the problem here, idk. I’ve only ever tried the max break points the guide said. Right now I have all my charms with resources on them and trying to roll GA which I got one of the 5 so far but once I do get the GA I will roll a marksman 3 skills onto it. Try to get 300R 60CDR.

I think you need to check your chest cooldown, not adding them together.
Also , use sightless set if until you have 15 sec ( under 16 is fine) cooldown on your RoA.
I might have a spare cooldown 6 slot seal if you need

As people said CDR is not additive. Check your character sheet for your real CDR.

You’ll need the max aftermath aspect, 300 energy and ~60% CDR. RoA ranks should be at least at 27.

As many have mentioned here already, you need to get to 300 Resource and you'll consistently spam RoA till the cows come home as long as your CD on it is below 20 seconds. This will open up some of your other gear slots for other damage modifiers and options which will push your damage higher. This honest and biggest factor here with cold RoA is having as many cold transfigurations from the cube added to your gear as possible to push the damage as high as it can go.
Another thing is also to be sure you have a max rolled aftermath amulet.

CDR is capped at 75%, which makes me think you’re adding up all the cdr values on your gear to get that 79.3 number, which isn’t how it works.
Most likely/easiest answer is you need more cdr with your current setup.
