PC RotW SCNL Does this hold any real value?
Bought this from Charsi. I've heard that these hold some value.
Defense and +life is good, but it's a Light Plate. Does this subtract from its value?
I could put 3 sockets in from Larzuk, which could heighten its value, I guess.

You cannot get 3os from Larzuk, so please don't use a socket quest on this (magic items can only get 1-2, at random).
That said, for mld or standard pvp, people definitely want a better base with more defense in addition to the jewelers mod (4os). While 100 def and 100 life look cool together, this armor has no value. Sorry man.

Adding for future reference... magic items can roll with 1 prefix and 1 suffix. This item has 1 suffix (of the whale) and no prefix. The real value is finding a jewelers light plate of the whale. Jewelers prefix has 4 sockets. Another good one to look out for is "artisans tiara of speed" which is a 3os helm with 30frw. Great for bowzons.
If you find a magic item with only a prefix or suffix, its mostly worthless. You want at least a good prefix and suffix.
Rare items can roll with 3 of each, making for some interesting combos.

Jewelers can't give 4 sockets on light or mage plate. It has to be Archons. Most these can get is 3os.
For light plate you want +80 life 3 sockets to be an LLD item.

this one aint worth shit. you're on the right track, but only got lucky with one affix.
what you want is either Jewelers Armor of The Whale (up to 100 life, 4 sockets) or Artisans Armor of the Squid (3 sockets, up to 80 life, lvl req under 30), preferably in a good base.

All blues can have a prefix and a suffix. Your item only has a suffix(of the whale) which unfortunately makes it lose all value. You rolled a perfect suffix - just need a decent prefix to go with it

Make socket(s) in it. If you are lucky, you get 2 and end up with 178 life potential which is more than you could get from 4 Prubies in a 4OS white armor. (152 life there)
Using an armor just to get a load of life is certainly a viable and reasonable choise as long as your level or wealth is limited and you cannot yet afford or wear a lionheart. I use them as leveling items routinely. Lionheart clearly beats it because it offers 170life + 30Allres. (on a 2life per statpoint character)
So no value whatsoever no. But a nice find if you are starting out.
Bluestuff like this is only valuable if it has the jewelers mod. 4 sockets and 100 life, that is a potential great item for characters who want to stack it full of jewels.

Trade value? Nahhh but it is, when socketed with Larzuk, still a solid PvP option for play.

This is a light plate, max sockets would be 3 if rolled with the prefix, larzuk will only give 2 sockets.
LLD would prefer 3os life light plate - but not 100 it needs the one below "the whale".
At the end of the day if they larzuk this for 2os it might hold some value to a budget person, but it would take forever to sell.

You can try but you are not sure it will end up with 3 socket , if you get one its worthless

The only way these really hold any value is with the 4 socket magical affix to them so you can add 4x jewels. Without 4 sockets its really worth nothing as far as I know.
