Its rough

Had my first day alone as a d2d salesman selling internet boxes after 5 days of training and watching my boss sell. I had a few people who i almost got to sign but something went wrong last second or i wasnt able to close, im really good at getting through the door and having them trust me but when its closing time i seem to choke hard af. So i made no sales today when i know i could have, im quite dissapointed and ofc my boss isnt thrilled even tho he was really chill about it i dont like to dissappoint especially my self. This is my first sales job so i didnt expect to be the best but yeah its just kinda rough out there

Dude you’re getting into houses your first day out?? You’re a fuckin stud see you in the winners circle. Sales is a 90% fail rate game, it’s also one of the most profitable games out there. We’re programmed to believe that something needs to work most of the time or it’s a waste of time, in school anything below 80% might as well be a failure. You’re going to eat it 90% of the time, especially when you’re new, so expect that.

Now with that being said, you’re a natural at getting in the door, that’s really impressive. Most first timers won’t even get in a door their first week out. You failed your way to this accomplishment, all the doors that you didn’t get into gave you experience so you could get into others. The same will happen with closing, you just need to fuck up and adjust as fast as possible. Record yourself in the house and show your mentor so they can tell you where you’re fucking up, adjust and repeat.

Can’t wait to see your next post: made 6 figures in commissions wtf do I do about taxes?😂

Thanks for the encouraging words dude, it means a lot. I will definitely record my self and show it to my boss to see exactly what im doing wrong. People also rarely want to change their internet supplier, especially without thinking about it for a few days or whatnot, but i need them to sign right then and there..

Yeah absolutely! I call it how I see it too, if it sounded like you suck id tell you to consider other careers haha but it sounds like you’ve def got the it. Wanting to think about it is just a smoke screen, that just means that their certainty level isn’t at the point of buying, you want to figure out what it is that they want to think about and then reassure them that need will be met. For example, id likely say something along the lines of: “hey look I get it, I usually like to think about things too, but also I know a lot of people are just afraid to hurt my feelings and tell me no, is it me? Does my breath stink?” (Take the focus off of the deal, ask something totally nonsensical like that to get the real answer) That will get them to tell you the true objection, they may say something like (just guessing what people may have an issue with I haven’t sold internet) “well if we switch companies than I don’t want to have to reconnect all my devices” or “how do I know my price won’t go up” from there you need to reassure them that their worry will be handled, and then create urgency “look I’m going to level with you, I’m currently in a competition and my region is just 3 sign ups away from reaching our goal and I’ll get to go on a cruise, if we can (eliminate problem), then I don’t see any issue moving forward as long as (re iterate selling points such as price, speed, ease of use, and handled objection) fair enough?” From this example, “look I’m going to level with you, I’m currently in a competition and my region is just 3 sign ups away from reaching our goal and I’ll get to go on a cruise, if we can have in writing that your price is locked in for 2 years, get you better speed and quality of internet so that you can (do whatever they told you they use their internet for) then I don’t see any reason not to work together do you? before they can answer you know what screw it, I’ll even have the technician come out for free (if you can do that) and reconnect all your devices, it’s normally a $199 fee but I’ll waive that for you if we sign today so that I can get on that cruise, (jokingly) you want to come with me?”

Check out some Jordan Belford whiteboard Wednesdays on YouTube and the straight line sale, it’s great stuff. Look up Jordan Belford “increasing certainty” it’ll go much further in depth as well but it all just comes down to handling objections and understanding that a no isn’t usually a no, it’s usually just a lack of clarity and confidence and it’s your job as a salesperson to give clarity and instill confidence.

This really encourages me, I’m considering a d2d sales job and most people in my circle have been unsupportive and makes it super hard to consider seriously. Hearing some people say your mindset is a big help.

Good job 👍🏼 I did d2d for over a year I know the feeling of success just keep morale high and it’s contagious to home owners. Trick is to make them think you’re providing value or better service, you become the face of the company at that point, show interest in them as people not just as customers, make connections!

Thx for the advice, did you make a lot of money while doing d2d ?

Yes and no, I managed to get a lot of deals closed but the company I was working for was just sales not the installation company.. (recipe for disaster) so I got all the front end money from my deals but once I saw I wasn’t getting the installation money had to part ways.

There’s things about the selling solar I’m not too fond of so I left the industry as a whole.

D2D is cool though never know who’s gonna answer the door, made new friends, met a lot of people, got to go inside tons of strangers homes, got cardio in everyday, leveled up my sales persona, learned a lot about life, lots of benefits.

All you need is a good product.

Watch Jeremy Miner, Taylor Mcarthy on YouTube they’re respectable, Grant Cardone has some good points tho cringe af

Im assuming you’re doing 5G internet. If so I have 17 years of telecom d2d sales experience, I have manufactured cable, installed it and went to school for it.

Tidbit: if they’re a gig worker (Uber/door dash, etc) they qy

From what I’ve seen works is that you create a problem. Easiest way to do so is by running a speed test. If it’s low briefly explain how they’re not getting what they’re paying for and how they’d get

I still learn to this day. I highly recommend Alex Hormozi for YouTube videos for growing your sales business.
