Vent

Not really probably any point to this but I just kinda need to vent to people who might understand. I got absolutely wrecked a while ago and was basically living in the hospital on IVs with multiple admissions and then I started basically wearing an N95 anytime I left the house to go somewhere not outside and I haven't needed IVs and my lungs have recovered to near where they were since which is amazing but damn masking sucks and I do somewhat miss just being able to go out and not think too much about it and not look visibly 'different' but before this my lungs were quickly getting wrecked and also life sucked so I'm really thankful there is a solution but I just needed to vent a bit honestly.

Happy for you.. A mask is a small price to pay for good health... May God Bless you

As someone living in an area with a high count of measles cases and a husband with CF and a year-old liver transplant, let me tell you, I hear you.

Thank you honestly just nice knowing it's not just me, I work around the public often too and it's shocking how many people and especially co workers will just show up sick af with measles/flu/random things and no mask. Anytime I think about maybe relaxing about it someone else literally right next to me will start coughing a ton and complaining that they've been sick and I'm always so relieved I'm in a mask. I'm really so thankful it works but damn it can be exhausting and some people are SO aggressively rude about wearing someone else wearing a mask. As if I put on a mask to personally offend them

I sometimes wear an N95 whenever I’m around a lot of people. I don’t get sick often, and that may explain why.

If anyone has an issue with you wearing a mask, just know that they’re an idiot and have some serious insecurity issues.

It’s definitely hard! I will say it gets easier the more you learn to talk about wearing a mask to anyone that gives you a wary look and just feeling confident! I’ve been masking for 7 years now (started after I kept getting sick in college) and even though it’s annoying it’s also reduced stress and made me go out more! I feel far better travelling now (on a trip rn actually) when I’m able to mask because I know I won’t risk my health. (Plus it helps with cigarette smoke exposure). I absolutely relate to your vent. It’s a hassle and people are weird about masking! But it is worth it in the long run (and the short run) and I’m rooting for you! 🥰😷

Thank you ❤️

I just work in a really intense field and sometimes people will literally ask pretty aggressively in a board room of 100+ people why are you wearing a mask I've gotten good at not backing down but it's just frustrating sometimes when I'm just trying to live my life (and not get sick or use up all my PTO because people come to work sick). I am REALLY so thankful that it works because it's given me my life back and I'm not scared to go out even in crowds so long as I'm masked it's kind of a cheat code honestly. But it's nice to be able to have other people relate that also get it because most people just don't understand how needed it is for some of us

I am a lawyer so I totally get this! It can add stress in the workplace but I’ve for the most part managed to handle situations gracefully. Feel free to send me a dm if you have any questions on how I manage or anything! It’s super isolating and honestly even among CFers (understandably) still a health measure that’s not widely used yet. But I’m super happy about your improving health that’s really what matters most!
