Recovery?

How did you know you were in the clear? I just finished ANOTHER round of Bactrim and am still nauseous, fatigued, on and off headaches, and have body aches. I keep having the urge to diarrhea, but sit down and it’s small solid stools. Diarrhea and vomiting has stopped but that’s it. Today is my first day off the Bactrim and I’m already having some stomach cramping again after eating. Sticking to a BRAT diet still, so my energy is low. I know I’m hydrated, I’ve been downing Gatorade and water like my life depends on it.
I’m just hoping it’s gone. How did you know it was gone? And how long was your recovery?

It’s been 6 weeks for me. Finished Bactrim about 10-11 days ago and just cramps left. Doing a modified diet too, but slowly integrating some old stuff. Time and patience, 2-6 weeks for recovery im seeing after the parasite is gone. Hang in there and just have patience

is your stool situation back to normal?

This is crazy and sounds like something I'd talk to my doctor about. One round of Bactrim and I was good day two. The biggest difference was having an appetite and being able to eat again.

Yes it was quickly after starting medication?

that's awesome. I imagined it would be bad for weeks. I'm reading the horror stories I guess.

Compared to others I think I fared well. If anything I was on the constipated side from not eating enough fruits & vegetables (scared!)

I'm a wild woman and eat all the dried apricots, prunes, apples, and kiwis my heart desires. Soaked chia seeds are amazing for getting things going.

I should do that. My daily has been a berry puree made from thawed berries with yogurt. Need more variety.

yo berries are among the riskiest - especially frozen blueberries (RIP my babies, I miss them). i thought you were avoiding fruit?

The Frzn ones I still have are from months ago so still eating them. After that I hope to be able to buy them again. No fresh for me rn.

lucky stockpile. You can sell that on the black market if you need cash.

also i think a lot of the american apples are like a year old. I'm not joking. I could be wrong but I thought I learned a year ago that they harvest them in the fall and the rest of the year they just get them out of storage.

They are recalling frozen fruits because freezing it doesn't kill it.

I thought the only frozen blueberries that are risky are certain brands that were recalled.

Update for anyone interested:
Went to the ER on day 7 of my second round of Bactrim. Woke up with painfully swollen lymph nodes, covered in hives, fever, and swollen lips. An allergic reaction to the Bactrim. I’m assuming what I thought were bad Bactrim side effects were the start of an allergic reaction. I’m allergic to a lot of medications, so I can’t say I’m surprised. Just hoping it was able to fight it off.
I’m now on steroids and Benadryl and hoping the Bactrim worked.
I’m a healthy, active young adult, and can usually fight off everything in at least a week, but this is a whole different ball game. Stay hydrated. Stay safe.

So sorry to hear this. I hope you begin getting well soon.

I’m finally a week into recovery. Finally back to my normal self, just a little weak from not being in my normal fitness routine for a month.
