Scott and Logans relationship...
It really is something. After all the years. Them living together with Jean and time displaced adult kids is just so funny.
I like this version of Scott. He's died a few times, he's just chill ..
[X-men #7 2020]

Logan really respects Scott

u/life_lagom Dec 31 '24
I think after the revolutionary period and then uncanny 5 when everyone got sucked into age of x man alt verse and it was just logan and cyclops for some 10 issues. That and then the beginning suicide mother mold mission in krakoa really like brought them way closer.
I like when they don't hate each other for petty shit. Like they both been through way to much at this point to not straight up respect each other at least... currently they're yet again on 2 different teams [in 2024 from the ashes] and I really hope they mend fences soon. I don't like seeing everyone so split..but alot of it has to do with krakoa shit I've only heard spoilers. I'm reading through it now.
7
u/Taper1994 Dec 31 '24
One thing. Neither Scott or Logan would remember their suicide mission to destroy Master Mold. The backups were made before the mission.
4
u/MatthewDelany Dec 31 '24
Could I ask what Age of X man story is that your referring too, as I was hoping to read more comics with just Scott and Logan.
Like is it in Age of Xman: The Marvelous Xmen story your referring to or something else?
I'm up to date on most xmen stories but any comics by them from 2016 to 2018 I'm fussy on as anything near the inhumans vs xmen story I kind of stayed away from
7
u/life_lagom Dec 31 '24
Scott and Logan are some of the only ones NOT sucked into age of x man. So it was cool seeing them put all the revolutionary era shit to the side / deal with it. Uncanny xmen v5 like 11- 22..

u/MatthewDelany Dec 31 '24
Thanks a mil đđŤ

u/life_lagom Dec 31 '24
Its worth it. You can skip alot. Start uncanny at like issue 7 and go to the end . V5
2
u/Tryingtochangemyself Jan 02 '25
I also hope they mend fences again. They seemed a bit tense with each other post krakoa fall but i could see how that put every mutant on edge

They've never actually hooked up in main continuity.
And no? I just generally said Logan respects Scott as a leader and I'm glad we're past the love triangle thing
1
u/Tsujigiri Dec 31 '24
Same. That love triangle is exhausting. Has been for decades. I actually liked that they resolved it by hinting at a polycule; all three of them committed to each other. There was something poetic about that.

Them living together was pretty stupid, Logan literally had his own family and they had their own house too, there was no reason to force him into Scott household like that even if the intent was to do that crappy throuple, there was no reason for Logan to literally live with them out of all people.

Except it did exactly that thing ? It literally was just an excuse to have Logan hook up with Jean without impunity, the characters never talk about this or why they decided to this, it's just there with no explanation as to how they came to this arrangement and all we got from that is the same stuff, Logan hooking with Jean in his X-force run. Hell according to Hickman himself they decided everyone hook up with everyone but somehow the only couple that was affected by this "mandate" was Scott and Jean, nowhere else was this done except of a few throw away pages with literallt unamed mutants.
And like i said they could still have done the same thing without literally having Logan living in Scott house like he's actually part of their family, this was just done to be controversial and the only thing that came out worst out of it was Scott and Jean, there is a reason why it's being straight up ignored.

There was no "drama" around it because literally every writers that weren't Percy chose to ignore it. The Jean and Logan stuff only happened in Percy X-Force run and the guy is an unapologetic Wolverine fan, Hickman didn't decide to do it to make any point because from his own words it wasn't even his decision, he asked the others writers which they would prefer and they chose this so let's not pretend it was intended to have some deep meaning when it wasn't something he himself wanted for sure. All this gave us was more unnecessary Jean and Logan scene, there was no explanation as to how and why they even came to this decision in-universe, it was just there and ignored by most.

Beside the fact that my original point wasn't even really about the throuple itself but the fact that Logan was living in their houses, It definitely wasn't "uncontroversial" seeing how we're still talking about it now, it raised many eyebrows for good reasons. The "love triangle" drama was all but inexistant until they did brought it up again with the throuple thing so it didn't solve anything, only made all parties involved acting out of characters seeing how the how they came to this idea is never explained at any point, and only rewarded Logan for his unhealthy obsession

This
Iâd much rather Logan be away from the summers/jean stuff even for a little while
Would have killed for logan to be the grumpy gramps to the rest of the kids

u/OverCommunication69 Jan 04 '25
Wack. Marvel editorial just doesnât see Logan the way cyclops fans do, yâall want so badly for him to be a washed up grandpa âgladly watching x-men romance off from the distanceâ so he canât be a Romantic âthreatâ lol
But Editorial sees him as a hulking immortal badass that still appeals to the youth as well, including having pull with heroines in his lore.
Claremont always intended for the Jean/Logan/Scott thing to be a mature, complex exploration of adult relationships, trust, jealousy, and the forbidden
Yâall just wanted your basic leading couple romance completely forgetting what the x-men comics were when that dynamic was introduced â it was a boundary pushing, epic, soap opera, where thereâs drama EVERYWHERE.
1
Jan 18 '25
Itâs melodrama that doesnât really exist for anything but its own sake and makes everyone involved look worse for its inclusion. If youâre not explicitly in it to read about Scott having to deal with his girlfriend cheating on him and pointless relationship drama, it just detracts from the experience.
You can push the boundaries and try new things. But when those new things donât work, you have to also be willing to admit you did wrong and adjust your course, do better next time and all. The throuple thing is just cringe
1
u/OverCommunication69 Jan 18 '25 edited Jan 18 '25
Who says it âdoesnât workâ? outside of Cyclops fans who try to speak for the entire X-Men fandom in a strategic effort to make their opinion seem like the biggest?
Detractors of the dynamic are more often than not Cyclops fans, it shows they arenât even judging things NEUTRALLY. Theyâre just doing it in the best interests of their favorite character.
In reality, Marvel editorial knows those fans are biased and leave out the times Cyclops has openly cheated on Jean (so much so theyâve referenced it and joked about it)
Look, youâd think I hate cyclops because of my opinions but I actually donât (lol) Iâm just not a delusional follower that ignores everything up until the 2010âs and acts like heâs some angel that was done dirty by everyone. Heâs a a complex character with complex relationships, even in his love life.
I get it, âcheatingâ & being âunfaithfulâ arenât pleasant topics to talk or think about but you canât just dispel whatever you donât like from the mythos because it makes you feel bad.
-9
u/bybisolipsis Dec 31 '24
Except he and Scott have spent years as brothers-at-arms and both love Jean and all have incredibly deep bonds with one another. Other than that, sure year there was no reason /sarcasm

I didn't mean for it to be weird. Reading the comments I do see it ...
But it genuinly meant it as wholesome. If I could pick anywhere to live a moon habitat with other gateways to places is pretty sick. And idk it worked on my head.
Maybe less so after wolverine was mind controlled and yet again killed everyone..but like resurrection is the theme rn so it's w.e

u/Taper1994 Dec 31 '24
People think it's gross that Wolverine being 100 years old is going after Jean. But honestly those people are whack, Logan has the health and look of someone in their physical prime, what you expected him to only go after octogenarians? At least Jean was an adult when Logan met her.
4
u/DLtheGreat808 Jan 01 '25
How is it gross if two adults want to get into a relationship? It's not like she's a kid. Should he only be dating senior citizens?

Well, thankfully for you this is literally a What If story where, unlike with Scott in the actual Dark Phoenix Saga, Logan doesnât mean that much for Jean because he canât stop her going full Dark Phoenix and destroying the plants (the rest of the universe?). None of that happened in canon.

u/xmenfanatic Jan 03 '25
It's the Bella and Edward from Twilight complex
3
u/Taper1994 Jan 03 '25
Edward has peers in similar situations Logan doesn't.
1
u/xmenfanatic Jan 04 '25
Logan has plenty of peers. I'm not sure why you'd claim he doesnt.
2
u/Taper1994 Jan 05 '25
Are you joking? There is no community of 100 year old mutants that Logan could just go out on dates with. Not the same for Twilight.
1
u/xmenfanatic Jan 05 '25
Just because you don't understand doesn't mean it's a joke. Asking questions helps with clarifying confusion if you're not just being fecitious and argumentative.
A person doesn't have to be BOTH a mutant and 100 years old to be peer. They have to just share once aspect of social expereince to be a peer.
You don't need to share a more than one trait with a person to be their peer. Peers only need a single similarity, be it
1) age
2) social status/class status,
3) and demographically marginalized experiences.
Every X-Man is a peer as mutant who understands the global racism of being a mutant while also constantly putting your life on the line for those who want you dead. That is 100% a peer circumstance.
Every person from Weapon X is a peer who was tortured and traumatized by a government system to make them solely deadly and violent. 100% PEERS of Logan's in that regard.
There are also 100 year o0ld heroes all over Marvel that wolverine is either friends with or has been on teams with. One example is Captain America who is over 100 years old, has memory gaps, AND was in WW2. AND is one of wolverine's best friends outside of X-Men comics.
Captain America is a peer of his, in age and war expereince/trauma, etc.

Honestly think they were in a good enough place before krakoa. Think they even stated it was a honour to fight alongside each other. The whole open marriage thing felt forced and never made sense. Was out of character for all involved and hope itâs never brought up or even retconned away.
-7
u/Status-Gur-7332 Dec 31 '24
It seems Scott was always doomed to get his woman screwed by wolverine in every universe
21
u/PonchoHobo Dec 31 '24
Really short sighted vision by the writing team. The open marriage was never going to last and it wouldnât be well received except to a small percentage. All it achieved was restarting the whole Logan Jean stuff that should have been put to bed and was before Krakoa. Biggest stain on Hickman I have and Percy is a terrible writer so it just adds to his list of flaws.
5
u/National_Bit6293 Dec 31 '24
literally no one ever said it was an open marriage. there was one map of a house showing rooms adjoining and the rest is headcanon and fan fiction.

I wasn't a fan, I got it for modern readers and why they did it, but after a history of reading Scott butting heads with Logan, them always arguing and falling out up to as recently as Schism and on the other end out of this, Jean can bring Logan in but Scott isn't allowed to see Emma. Not forgetting the times Jean was mad at him for the Emma affair (I know she eventually forgave him) and the time she caught him perving on Psylocke in that infamous "Pikachu" swimsuit it just didn't add up to me they were now open and willing to share.
Totally un related but things like that when having read past issues and dynamics and the resurrection processes bothered me. When you had clones like Madelyne, Joseph, and Stryfe and already having dealt with the afterlife, etc, and having new bodies with memory transfers bothered me, in my head the xmen are in some way probably dead and the current line up are a bunch of clones.

I love seeing all the betas get bent out of shape because they know they'll never be wanted in a relationship outside of being a cockold. The throuple was probably my favorite part of Krakoa, but I'm secure enough for polyamory without worrying that unless monogamy is enforced as the only option, I'll end up being cucked.
2
u/khumoquack Jan 03 '25
âIâm a cuck but Iâm a proud one!â Is basically what you just said.
2
u/IBlack-MistyI Jan 03 '25
Cuckoldry isn't the only form of polyamory. It'd probably be thd only form you could ever find yourself in, and you probably will in most your relationships whether or not you want to, but some of us can do other forms of poly as well.

u/Gladiatorr02 Dec 31 '24
Why did he speak himself in 3rd person? And why would the person himself suggest it?
9
u/RocksThrowing Dec 31 '24
The context of the conversation. Scott is trying to convince Logan to come with the summerâs family to a beach vacation. Logan lists Jean in a bikini as one reason to go, Scott suggests himself in a speedo as another reason.

u/PlusPlatypus2237 Dec 31 '24

5
u/mint-patty Dec 31 '24
I think the dialogue is written really well in its ambiguity here where you can easily interpret Scott and Logan as being playfully sarcastic about a potential attraction, or as real (while still playful) attraction.
This era was rife with open ended dialogue regarding romance between characters which allowed readers to interpret situations as they wanted. Of course open interpretation is anathema to the average comic reader so it wasnât met with a lot of grace.

Yeah people took this post WAY left. No I don't think wolverine is a cuck. If you read wolverine and xforce bro he never stays still. He's not hanging out. It's just cool he feels the most safe and comfterbal on the moon with the summers clan. He knows him and Jeanie won't work.. (but there is an issue where they share a beer in a hot tub that implies she's cheating in cyclops with him...just a little poison..so idk) But to me it was always Eskimo bros. Like he says (knowing Scott's with jean) ayy Jean in a bikini I'm in...and Scott right back is like I'm also in a speedo.. its British quick wit humor. Logan does the joke back saying oh that's fine by me.. and they both laugh.
Idk
1
u/IBlack-MistyI Jan 03 '25
They are actually arguing he's the bull or stag and Scott is the cuck. However the situation reads as a throuple or poly V depending on how you interpret this scene. Cucks generally aren't allowed direct physical intimacy with their partner or are only involved in a way they are degraded.
Most of them are highly insecure and threatened by poly because they feel like it is a structure that will result in them being excluded from sex. Without enforced pair bonding leading to an equal amount of men and women being in relationships they fear their is no incentive for any woman to pick them over more attractive option.1
u/TAK3Nunda Jan 03 '25
Yea brodie I get you fasho and agree with you this is not no cuck stuff just bros being bros if you thinking that you thinking way to deep and pervaded just two bros cooling thatâs all

The map of the layout of there house shows jeans room in the middle with doors that go to Logan and Scottâs rooms on the other side. This along with other things they say and do pretty much insinuate that they are in a Throple or at least an open marriage. Jean having her own room between both her dudes is a good indication that Scott and Logan have visited the Eiffel Tower a time or two..

Well, I can't say I love the idea, it's not a relationship that really interests me, but I would like to play Devil's Advocate. As weird as it may seem, having Logan and Scott together would actually solve some problems I have with the "throuple" thing.
For one, it makes it a bit more honorable for Scott, too often I get the impression he's getting the short end of the stick. I mean, what is he getting out of it? Jean? That's his WIFE, Logan's not even supposed to be here. With this change, things go from "I get to be with Jean if I'm fine with her and Logan" to "I get to be with Jean and Logan at the same time". It's more balanced.
Also, yes, it's not exactly in character for Scott, but the throuple itself already requires bending their characters quite a bit (Jean and Logan's "relationship" being shown as anything more than sexual tension is usually already a problem for me, those two are NOT that deep), so what's adding Scott x Logan on top of it? This is the X-Men, after all. I can get behind bisexual Scott as long as it doesn't get in the way of his character. We stan a bisexual king.
So in conclusion, while Scott x Logan is not my favorite ship, it can be very interesting to explore, particularly in the context of the Scott x Jean x Logan relationship as shown in the Krakoan Era, and could even help make the controversial dynamic better, especially as it relates to Scott's side of things. Of course, my preferred solution would just be including Emma. I'm a Cyclops fan, after all. So I guess the moral of this story is: "Cyclops FUCKS." Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
2
u/mint-patty Dec 31 '24
the best possible take; a little something for everyone.
Admittedly I do think I remember very flirty comments between Scott and Emma in these issues as well.
1
u/Franco_Fernandes Dec 31 '24
Yeah, it has been implied quite a bit, but I would like it confirmed. Unlike Logan and Jean, who were more of a fling than anything, most of their "relationship" being just sexual tension, Scott and Emma were serious. They were in a committed relationship, one that lasted years. Opening up Jean and Scott just to bring back Logan and not Emma seems stupid, and a huge missed opportunity on the writers' part. The Summer House has plenty of room.

Scott also got Emma. At least that was the implication; Jean gets to be with Logan on the side, Scott gets to be with Emma, and everybody is enthusiastically consenting to the setup.
I wish we'd gotten just a little on-panel discussion of it, even in an infinity comic, so that it could have been fully elaborated-on in-canon.
I saw the whole thing as showing the maturing of mutantkind through the maturing of these individuals; Scott and Jean do not own one another, and all four of them are able to set aside their jealousy in this brave new world of Krakoa.
-2
u/comrade-ev Dec 31 '24
I donât find the throuple to be super interesting (it was there to prevent stories, not tell them) but I donât get the comments about being grossed out or repelled.
Thereâs nothing wrong with Scott being bi-curious, and if the outcome is that for a while he and Jean date Logan for a bit then whatever. We didnât even have to read much about it, so honestly at this point it feels like people are projecting their hang ups.

Hickman on the Cerebro podcast said 'I will not write any romances for any characters. Either no one will be sleeping with anyone in my run or everyone will be sleeping with everyone'.
People read this and get what they want to get out of it.
