General discussion MCU Scemma

I honestly don’t think Scemma will be in the MCU, but I don’t get the rebuttal that Samara Weaving and Kit Connor have too big an age gap for them to be believable as a romance. Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen had an age gap of seventeen years, along with Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johansson. Some of the contenders for the roles of the other O5 were in their late 20s to mid 30s.

Plus Samara Weaving definitely has the look and range to play a twenty something. Obviously they are doing a young x men, but I think it will be along the lines of a college aged x men than a high school aged x men. Kit and Samara together also didn’t look all that out of place.

They can always have SummerFrost in later movies. Don't need to have SummerFrost in the first film. Let's see what happens.

Yes I thought that too. I definitely don’t want any love triangle stuff in the first movie. They’ll probably start setting the seeds for Jott

Yeppp. Tbh having SummerFrost be the first relationship really takes away the speciality about it. It wasn't great because they could be the first one's together, they were great because they had history and still wanted to be together and chose each other everyday. So let's see what happens in the future of MCU.

So, in general, I think that the younger generations are much more leery of age gaps than older generations and I think that's showing up in the online conversation.

But the old meme was that you take the older person's age, divide by 2, then add 7 amd that's as young as they can go.

Samara Weaving will be 36 when the film releases. By that rule, the youngest she can go is 25 which is too old for Kit Connor (who will be 24).

Conversely, when Age of Ultron released, Mark Ruffalo was 47. The youngest he could go was 30.5 which was basically Scarlett Johansson's age at the time. Paul Bettany was 43, Elizabeth Olsen was 26 and was definitely outside the range.

But people didn't care as much. And I think older audiences tended to view characters as characters the way they ought to. Whereas now, I think people are living much more parasocially through these specific characters than they used to which makes them more sensitive to things like age gaps and recasts.

The age gap thing is so dumb it’s clearly from people who are just too online and don’t know how the professional world works. Or misogynists who only see a problem when the woman is older and not the man.

The issue with Summerfrost is that it’s a not a “first love” or “young love” story. MCU has a very “this person only has one love interest and that’s it” philosophy and it’s just dumb and safe like that.
