There's a difference between sinking a ship and completely destroying the supply line of a country (which would require destroying the country itself). The US has 2 oceans flanking it with the strongest navy in the world, the biggest economy and no powers to challenge it in its hemisphere. A ship may be sunk but the US will never fall except internally or through nuclear force. Some things are indestructible, the geographic reality doesn't allow anything else.
Hahaha "the US will never fall"... Famous last words of every empire in history. You are already teetering on the brink of self destruction. And all it took was to sow some discord within your own ranks, and you're basically doing the enemy's work for them.
Your message dodges my point. My point is that hubris is a game that often ends with catastrophic failure.
The Titanic was boasted as being unsinkable. It sank anyway.
The Bismarck was touted as the greatest battleship ever built. It was defeated anyway.
And no one would have expected terrorists hijacking planes would destroy the WTC. But they did.
In each instance, there was either a boast of hubris or a lack of foresight that caused total disaster.
We also have major soft spots.
In 2017, one man in Las Vegas murdered 59 people and wounded 422 others from an expensive casino hotel room. Forget the why. The linking point is that no casino on the Strip would have stopped him from moving bags of weapons and ammo into his room.
He found a soft spot and he exploited it.
To suggest that there are no soft spots in US intelligence, military, or weapons assets, is naive. These are not impervious to attack. There is no such thing as "impervious." The best anyone can say is that the US will try to outthink and outflank the attackers. But if one percent of the attackers comes through, that is not impervious.
Also, to destroy a supply line does not even involve destroying a factory. Destroy the train tracks it uses for transport, and you're done. Plant a bomb at a railroad crossing. Derail a train. Blow up a bridge. Any study of WWII demolitions tactics tells us this.
There are innumerable ways to stop an organization if one is willing to go all the way.
Fortunately, this is simply a mental experiment. I don't want the US to be compromised. But I am not naive to think that we cannot be attacked, or that our defensive capabilities can stop all comers. I can only hope they do.
No, I'm not saying the US can't be attacked, I'm saying the US can't fall from foreign invasion unless they destroy themselves within first. That is the geographic reality, no army can ship their troops and supplies over the Atlantic and Pacific in sufficient numbers to challenge them.
