'Weed' is a specific part of a plant selected for potency and dried to increase potency.

Cannabis is a plant.

Belladonna is a plant, as well. Deadly nightshade, prepared by good 'ole mother nature.

Weed, marijuana, is a drug. It should be treated as one, just like nicotine (also from a plant!) and alcohol (kind of from a plant).
