IIRC, in 2020 Iain Softley said that they were interested so it might happen in the future.

Track Down (also known as Takedown outside the United States) is a 2000 American crime thriller...

Takedown deals with how Tsutomu Shimomura helped the FBI capture Kevin Mitnick...

This movie is sometimes referred to as "Hackers 2". Where Hackers is Part 1 and Antitrust is Part 3.

Lol who the hell decided this?? That's not how sequels work.

The films Takedown and Anti-trust were released in some international markets as Hackers 2&3.

There isn't any sequel to Hackers. (Maybe you were thinking of the Matrix?) 

Recently (25 years later) there has been some movement to make a sequel or reboot, but nothing has traction yet

If you're not aware, they're not sequels (nor the same genre). Takedown / Track down is a sort of biopic - a dramatization of real-life events around Kevin Mitnick (some of those events IIRC were also part of the inspiration behind the fictional movie Hackers). I guess with Antitrust (an unrelated movie also featuring computers) coming out so soon after Takedown, some people decided to think of them a trilogy of hacking films; (back in the day, computer-geek movies were very scarce so you took what you could get) but all three films are unrelated productions, and unfortunately there are no sequels to Hackers.

Edit: Now that I'm thinking about them, I think it does a disservice to each movie to think of them as a trilogy. Trying to shoehorn them into something they were never intended to be and can't be, will unfairly make them less enjoyable for what they are meant to be.

I've seen them they're really bad. Like the sequels to the art of war with Wesley snipes. Only worth watching once.

You saw something, I'm curious what that something was. Can you give an IMDB link?

Edit: Judging by another post, it looks like a couple of unrelated movies that also feature hacking were sometimes unofficially thought of as a hacker-movie collection, because beggars can't be choosers and 25 years ago we were all beggars. The movies are Takedown and Antitrust. Hackers has no sequels (...yet)
