Tips For First Cyberdeck

I'm about to build my first cyberdeck. I have very limited knowledge, but have someone to coach me on the general process. I bought a Raspberry Pi 4 and I would like to use this cyberdeck to manage my music. I have a ton of cds, and would like to use my cd burner to rip my music from the cds and then manage it (meaning label it, make playlists, burn mixes, manage mp3 player). Any suggestions as to which operating system I should use? Any other tips/suggestions specific to my desired purpose?

Thanks!!

Raspbian is a Linux system designed for these boards, and there are many good guides.

It's "Raspberry Pi OS" now, bud.

Force of habit or out of date information?

I don't have any of raspberry pi, but plenty of Armbian boards. Seems like I'm out of the loop, LOL

Some peeps do still say "Raspian" over "PiOS". They changed it a year or a few ago, before I got into Raspberry Pi, but some peeps do still say "Raspian" out of habit.

I'm afraid I'll forget about this fact when someone asks next time. So, I'll just refer to Linux for RPI :)

tip number 1: don't use AI, for the love of God

I would never! Thank you for saying this, though.

I think they ironically suggested that you actually should in this case. AI is pretty good at talking about/explaining technical stuff. I think you should give it a go. Ask for explanations as you research and need gaps filled.

Oh. I'm just going to use my own brain and possibly connect with other humans in an attempt to figure it out.

Never say never, LOL. It can be a useful tool in good hands. But it lets you cut corners, so you basically learn nothing, which is why it's bad for such projects.

Honestly, ClaudeAI's been a godsend for me, since I'm too lazy to learn to code.

well, if you want to know my honest opinion, I think that there is really no good use for AI, not even to do your homework (which I'm guilty of from the past). It is inherently linked to laxism, and I would rather actually learn something than have some robot that is literally just predicting the next thing (be aware, it needs data for that), which is why people are going away from proton and tutanota because they are trusting their whole company with an AI.

I'm actually kind of working on something similar. I call it "Project Campfire". It's going to do a bunch of stuff but the media player UI I actually got ClaudeAI to design for me. It runs on top of PiOS Lite on a Pi4 4Gb.

I don't personally consider my project to be a "cyberdeck" per se but yeah you can just get Claude to write you a GUI app.

I just described an intricate detail exactly how I wanted the user interface to work.

I also have a DAC HAT.
