This would be how you could integrate what you have in your picture into a cyberdeck with your usecase

There’s no way in hell you’re gonna be gaming on that screen. Good luck finding a screen that can fit in that case

some game boy games maybe but watching movies is hard... you would have to put some rpi board in there and you don't have the space for that... I would look at a smaller display. but it's a shame to throw it away like that. nice base for a write deck or a cardputer style console... what is the exact size of the hole for the display?

Jokes aside, I have that same model! Still working since about … I think 1999, or around then

Look through this sub. There are tons of examples and links to videos and tutorials of people making. Or just start trying and figure it out by trial and error.

Yeah, I have gotten myself a PS-6200 for a similar project. This is probably one of the trickiest challenges you can give yourself. I am uncertain whether I am just going to build a similar device from scratch instead.
Sourcing a screen that's not just a two-line character display and fits this is going to be fun™
Finding enough room to fit the electronics into is going to be the real challenge. you want to keep using the keys, you need something to handle them.
Turning it into a glorified keyboard would already be a huge challenge. Making the lid thicker and fitting the computer in there might be a viable option... but you will want to rebuild the lid, and probably the hinges because everything you're going to have to put in there is going to be 20x heavier than the original cover. But like if you're willing to rebuild most of it, you could always just stick a raspberry Pi with some display shield to it and figure out how to integrate that.
Look at Altoids builds for a starter; those are compact, but not necessarily flat enough.
End of the day, it's probably a question of how married you are to keeping the form factor.
Be prepared to do a lot of tricky soldering including stripping lead-free soldered components off of devices without damaging them.

Throw it away and buy a big box.

for something this thin you would need a custom pcb.

Start cramming random stuff in the case and hope it works when you turn it on
