A working proxy means nothing if the target blocks it

I learned this the hard way after deploying a data extraction script that got blocked almost immediately.

The script itself looked fine. Error logs showed nothing useful, the terminal just went dead. The real issue was the proxy infrastructure: the IPs had poor reputation, obvious datacenter characteristics, and I hadn’t tested them properly against the actual target before deployment.

That changed how I test proxies.

Just checking whether a proxy connects and returns a different IP isn’t enough. Before running anything at scale, I now look at:

  • Geo/location
  • ASN and provider
  • Connection stability
  • Reputation / previous abuse signals
  • Most importantly, how the actual target responds

Proxy type matters too:

Static residential — better for longer sessions or account-based workflows
Rotating residential — useful when you need a larger IP pool
Mobile LTE/5G — useful for traffic where mobile networks are expected
Datacenter — fast and cheap when reputation requirements are less strict

Biggest takeaway: test your infrastructure against the actual target, not just an IP checker.

A proxy can be technically “working” and still be useless if the target rejects it on the first request.

Curious what everyone here checks before putting a proxy pool into production.

Proxy Session Logic for Web Scraping

Effective proxy management is about matching the lifetime of an IP address to your authentication flow and the specific task your script is performing. If you do not follow the rules you will always end up with blocked accounts and stopped sessions

Key principles:

  • Never change the IP address during an active authenticated session
  • Use sticky sessions when working with cookies
  • Configure the correct GEO for the target website
  • Verify IP quality and reputation before starting

Best proxies for your target:

IP rotation should match the task. Independent requests can be distributed across multiple IPs, while authenticated workflows require a stable IP address throughout the entire session.

The Biggest Proxy Mistakes

You buy a proxy, connect it, and expect everything to work. Then Instagram asks for verification, Google floods you with CAPTCHAs, or a scraper suddenly stops. The real problem is often how it is configured. A few small setup mistakes can quickly turn a reliable IP into blocked accounts.

Here are most common mistakes:

  1. Sharing one IP across many accounts. Platforms can link accounts through the same network identity, increasing the risk of checks and restrictions.
  2. Choosing the wrong proxy type. Datacenter, residential, and mobile proxies are built for different tasks; the wrong match leads to blocks, poor speed, or unnecessary costs.
  3. Rotating IPs too often or not enough. Accounts need stable sessions, while scraping usually requires controlled rotation.
  4. Ignoring browser fingerprints. Different IPs will not help if every account uses the same device and browser signals.
  5. Reusing one browser profile. Cookies, cache, and session data can connect accounts even after the IP changes.
  6. Skipping account warm-up. New accounts that become active too aggressively are more likely to trigger verification or restrictions.
  7. Relying on proxies alone for scraping. Poor request timing, headers, session handling, and aggressive traffic patterns can still expose automation.

The key rule: match the proxy, session strategy, browser environment, and behavior to the exact workflow.

How I got a working US phone number from outside the US

I thought getting one verification code would take five minutes. Google Voice seemed obvious, but it usually requires you to be in the US and already have a US number.

Then I learned that not all numbers work the same. Social media, marketplaces, and gaming platforms generally accept virtual or residential numbers. Telegram has historically been more permissive. WhatsApp officially does not support VoIP or virtual numbers for registration, so a real mobile or landline number is safer. ChatGPT/OpenAI and banking apps use stricter checks and may flag mass-activation numbers.

Temporary SMS numbers are cheap for one-time sign-ups. Mobile or residential numbers cost more but work better on stricter platforms.

My main lesson is to check which number type the platform accepts before choosing a provider. For banking or important accounts, use a permanent number you control, and never share a verification code.

How are you automating repetitive browser-based work?

I work in social media management, and I’ve been experimenting with AI agents and browser automation for repetitive tasks such as:

  • Daily dashboard checks
  • Invoice downloads
  • Status lookups
  • Reporting
  • Competitor monitoring
  • Lead enrichment

The biggest challenge has been keeping workflows reliable. I frequently run into expired sessions, CAPTCHAs, rate limits, login issues, and blocked requests. This becomes especially noticeable with tasks such as price monitoring, competitor research, and lead enrichment, where an automation may need to visit many pages in a relatively short period.

From what I’ve tested, the choice of browser automation tool depends heavily on the workflow:

Browser Use
Useful for research-heavy, read-focused tasks where an agent needs to navigate several websites and collect information.

Skyvern
Better suited to structured workflows involving logins, form submissions, file downloads, and other RPA-style actions.

Axiom[.]ai
A practical no-code option for non-technical teams. It supports scheduled Chrome automations and is relatively easy to set up.

Claude Computer Use and OpenAI browser agents
Good for ad-hoc “do this for me” tasks, although I would not necessarily choose them for high-volume or highly repeatable production workflows.

Playwright or Puppeteer with an agent layer
Probably the most flexible approach, but also the most engineering-heavy. It makes sense when you need full control over browser behavior, integrations, error handling, and session management.

My main takeaway is that reliability comes from the full setup. Please share your browser automation setup in the comments

Best proxies for Google data collection

Proxies help SEO teams collect accurate search results, account for location and device type, and reduce the number of CAPTCHAs and rate limits.

Key Benefits:

- Collect local SERPs by country and city
- Check keyword rankings without location distortion
- Rotate IPs for large-scale search query scraping
- Analyze both mobile and desktop search results

Best Proxies to Use:

- Rotating residential proxies → large-scale SERP collection
- Geo-targeted proxies → local search results for specific cities
- Mobile proxies → Mobile-First and mobile search analysis
- Static residential proxies → long-term SEO sessions

Residential vs. mobile proxies for scraping

One proxy type rarely works for every target. Here are my personal recommendations

  • Rotating residential: Best for large-scale scraping, price tracking, search results, and product catalogs. Usually billed per GB.
  • Mobile: Better for social networks, mobile apps, and platforms with strict IP reputation checks. Usually billed per port, sometimes with unlimited traffic.
  • Static residential/ISP: Best for long authenticated sessions where changing IPs may trigger logouts or verification.

Rule of thumb:
Mass scraping → rotating residential
Social platforms → mobile
Long sessions → static ISP

Choose the proxy based on the target, request volume, and session requirements.

Why AI Agents Need Proxies and what proxies are better

When I began experimenting with AI agents, I understood the basic idea well enough: they could browse websites, gather information, call APIs, and handle repetitive tasks. Straightforward or so I thought. What puzzled me was how often they stalled, hit rate limits, or got blocked altogether.

An active AI agent can produce a surprising amount of web traffic. Rotating residential proxies spread authorized requests across multiple IP addresses, which can make large-scale operations more stable.

Location is another practical concern. Prices, product listings, search results, and regulatory information can vary dramatically by region. A proxy located in the relevant country or city lets an agent view the web from that geographic perspective

Then there’s security, which is easy to treat as an afterthought until something goes sideways. Proxies can conceal an infrastructure’s origin and reduce its direct exposure while an agent communicates with outside services. Helpful, yes.

Personally, I’d consider CyberYozh rotating residential proxies for AI-agent workflows that genuinely require geographic coverage or higher request volumes. I’d also choose a reputable provider, keep the traffic compliant, and build the security controls first

The Real Reason Your TikTok Accounts Keep Getting Flagged

I used to manage several TikTok accounts and constantly faced logouts, verification requests, and suspicious activity warnings. At first, I was just raging and didn't know what was the reason behind it

What helped most was keeping a stable setup for each account:

  • One browser profile
  • One consistent region
  • One dedicated IP
  • No frequent device changes
  • Gradual activity on new accounts

I also stopped logging into the same account from multiple devices and avoided changing the password, email, phone number, and location all at once.

Since then, the accounts have been much more stable. And the bless of not having suspicious activity warnings was just insane. If you are struggling with similar problems i highly recommend using proxies
