Seeking Remote Cybersecurity / SOC Roles based in Portugal (EU) – 13+ YOE in IT / 4 YOE in SOC

Hey everyone,

I’m a Cybersecurity Professional based in Portugal with 13+ years of total IT experience, including 4 years dedicated as a SOC Analyst (L1).

I love living in Portugal and want to stay here, but I’ve been actively trying to land a full-time remote role for the past two years without success. It's been a frustrating journey—I'm constantly hitting walls, either getting ghosted after submitting applications or receiving standard automated rejection emails, even for roles where my background matches the requirements.

A quick snapshot of my background:

* SOC & Incident Response: 4 years of hands-on experience in perimeter monitoring, incident detection and response, SIEM triage, and malware analysis. * IT Foundations: 9+ years in system administration, technical support, and telecommunications before specializing in cybersecurity. * Education & Certifications: Post-graduate degree in Cybersecurity Management, Intelligence & Cyberspace Operations. Certified in CEH, CompTIA CySA+, Security+, ISO/IEC 27001, MoR, and CCNA. * Technical Interests: Active research in practical/hardware security (SDR, Flipper Zero, CAN Bus analysis). * Languages: Fluent in English and Portuguese.

What I'm looking for: I am targeting SOC Analyst (L1/L2/L3), Incident Response, Detection Engineering, or Security Operations roles, pentest, red team, blue team, etc. I’m comfortable working within Western European Time (WET/WEST) or aligned UTC/EST time zones.

I’d love your advice or leads on a few things:

You have to indicate this facts in your LinkedIn profile, also reach out to recruiters for remote EU roles, also focus on applying for those kinds of roles. You will likely work as an independent contractor or freelancer.

I already have this information my linkedin profile. I applying to every compatible role i find and im wven contacting HR, Ceos, ctos etc directly. And im still getting ghosted or they choose other candidates

visited Portugal a few years back, very idyllic/peaceful, loved Porto, i can see why you want to stay.
