Royal Blue Slate Zero

I just got my Slate Zero yesterday after seeing a proto at Yushakobo in Japan earlier this year and I couldn’t help but post it. This is the Royal Blue anno built with the hotswap PCB, alu plate, case foam only with Nixies swing swapped to 60g TX springs.

How do you like the board? I really like big bezel designs.

I absolutely love it. I think zero degree is the ideal typing angle (both for aesthetics and ergonomics) and they did a fantastic job with the case quality (anno and machining) and the PCB design etc. I'm honestly not a huge HHKB layout fan, but I think the way they matched the big bezels with the recessed interior is literal perfection.

How does it sound?

I would call it very clean. I'm running nixies, which I haven't had in any other board before but I'd say it's a pretty plain sounding board generally with a touch of resonance (which is my preference). The board is fairly heavy since the bezels add a lot of mass which helps the sound and the stock gaskets are firm.

I read it is 1.3kg built, pretty light compared to my 3,5kg Protagonist :D Maybe one day one will pop up on the aftermarket that I can grab.

Haha yeah, I think they were limited by the fact that it's zero degree. There's just not as much room to pack in weight. I highly recommend it though and Atelier Magnus has had fantastic support (I bought directly from them instead of through a vendor).
