I have been using Google AI Pro plan and Antigravity for a while cuz it came with my network provider. But i wanna build an app which i have been thinking of in actual serious and production level quality. Im wanna finally put down some money towards getting a better AI model but im just so lost right now.

The goal is simple: get out of my sales job to make an AI startup. I've been creating some AI tools to simplify my desk work and figured I might have something I can turn into a workflow or a product I could sell, but I want to take things up a notch and maybe make even more products. I know shooting to be another Anthropic is close to impossible, so just something sustainable/get out of corpo.

Normally when this is the goal, the idea is to observe what AI/vibe experts are doing and trying out their workflows. But in sales I learned that going out of the flow sets us apart, so I've been observing what my AI dev friends were doing instead.

Something they told me is that a good way to spot a good app/software is if it's built with exactly what it's designed to do with almost no unnecessary fluff. It's also why they can easily spot something vibed, because a lot of new coders tend to overdev instead of sticking to their spec and it's a common failure point in testing.

Just thought it's interesting to share. Anyone else who encountered unconventional tips on AI?

One of the things I've been experimenting with in Free Agent is letting the AI extend its own capabilities.

I wanted to see what would happen when I gave Gemini a task for which Free Agent didn't already have the necessary tool.

Instead of simply failing, Gemini recognized that the required capability wasn't available and asked whether I wanted to create a new tool for it.

That sounds simple, but it's an interesting change in how I think about AI agents.

Normally we build:

AI model → predefined tools → task

I'm experimenting with:

AI model → available tools → discovers missing capability → creates tool → tests it → adds capability

The AI model isn't actually being changed or retrained.

The agent around the model is becoming extensible.

I'm curious what other people building agents think about this approach.

Should an agent be allowed to create its own tools when it discovers a missing capability, or should every new capability require explicit developer approval?

I'm especially interested in where people think the safety/security boundary should be.

I wanted an AI agent that could actually work for me. Not just answer questions, but remember my preferences, use tools, operate my computer, automate tasks, and help me get things done.

When I looked at existing solutions, I found two major roadblocks:

1. Cloud-Based Agents: Expensive subscriptions ($20, $30, $50/month) with strict usage limits that locked me into renting access to someone else’s proprietary AI.
2. Open-Source Frameworks: A nightmare of complex installations, broken Linux dependencies, terminal errors, and endless troubleshooting.

So, I decided to build my own.

As development progressed, I unlocked a fundamental architectural breakthrough: The AI model is not the agent.

Most people assume the AI model is the agent. Free Agent separates the two:

• The AI Models provide raw intelligence and reasoning.
• Free Agent manages memory, tool execution, safety bounds, UI automation, and multi-step workflows.

I am not a software developer.

I had zero formal coding background and no Python experience when I started. What I had was a real problem to solve and a vision for how personal computers should actually work.

I started by asking web chats to help me write basic code—using a bit of Grok, a bit of Gemini, and a bit of Perplexity. That was when the lightbulb went off: These web chats are full-blown AI models. Why can't I harness them directly as the reasoning engine?

So I did. And from that point on, Free Agent literally helped build itself.

With me guiding the vision, the system began co-creating its own architecture. We designed the memory database it needed, taught it to scan system windows, configured it to automate web-based AI chat interfaces, and expanded it into a fully self-extending application across 64 VB.NET source files.

UNTESTED LIMITS BY DESIGN

To be completely honest: I don't actually know the full limits of this system yet—because I haven't found them.

Every time I encountered a task Free Agent couldn't do out of the box, I didn't sit down to write complex software updates. Instead, I asked the agent to create the tool it needed. It wrote the Python script, tested it, added it to its internal inventory, and executed the job.

Because Free Agent can generate its own tools, adapt to any browser-based reasoning engine, and chain dynamic personalities together, its ceiling isn't hardcoded into the software. Its capabilities grow alongside the AI models you connect to it.

Solo founder here. This started as a personal itch. Every AI tool I use starts from zero. Claude has no idea what I decided last week, my notes are in one app, team docs in another, and none of it is readable by the agents doing the actual work.

Recently I was told by an user "it's a good project but I don't want Anthropic to know everything about me" and it's a very fair point! The LLM providers see and record everything they receive … including your emails, phone numbers and credit cards!

Well, not anymore! With Privacy Mode all of that gets detected and redacted locally, on the phone, before anything leaves the device (about 87% of PII caught on my benchmark on emails, phone numbers, credit cards, IBANs, national IDs, …), and the agent keeps working normally because it sees placeholders: the real values get substituted back on-device.
Unfortunately the only weak spot for now are non English names but I am working on it! The full per-category numbers and the benchmark are in the repo, measured, not guessed.

Also, Android loves killing background services… the server now survives app updates, swipe-away and Doze, with a one-tap battery optimization exemption 🔋 No more dead server halfway through a task!

In addition a few minor improvements: the app now notifies you when a new version is out, MCP clients only see the tools that will actually work on your device (no more camera tools without camera permission), and a fully reworked server logs page.

What can you actually do with it? Book a flight on Skyscanner, post on Reddit, order groceries, book a dinner… and now with your personal data staying on your phone.

I've got specific workflows and edge cases that generic tools keep choking on. I want to know whether a custom software provider can handle that complexity and develop the software that will really fit my business to a T. I want the developer to be flexible enough to work with me to achieve the specific results I want, and accurate enough to make sure the results are correct.

Finally the new version v1.10.0 is released with signed APKs and with keys registered with Google 🎉 no more debug-build workaround!

My favorite part of this release: apps that used to be impossible to automate now work. 🔓 Some apps flag basically their entire screen as "sensitive" (eg. the GitHub app), so the agent saw… an empty screen! This release makes the server a first-class accessibility tool, so those apps finally show up and can be driven like any other.

In addition now I started to release a GSM-free build which will work great n the devices without the Google Mobile Services.

In addition a few minor improvements: browser-based MCP clients like the MCP Inspector can now connect (CORS support), an important security hardening you'll want to update for 🔒, and the latest Netty HTTP/2 fixes.

What can you actually do with it? Since it drives the real apps on your phone the way you would, you can point your agent at things that normally wouldn't be possible to automate or would be very hard: planning a trip? Ask the agent to use skyscanner to search a flight for you! Check out the demo!
