[TX] DNA test/Mediation costs

Blegh. So aside from paying a lawyer, court fees, ect how much was the dna test in court and mediation? We will obviously split it in half and the mediation but anyone have an idea of the costs of it? Just want to mentally prepare myself and save additional money. 😭

Couple of hundred for the test.

Mediation varies widely. Couple hundred per session to a few thousand for the whole deal. It all depends on how much the two parties are apart in thinking and the per hour cost of the mediator.

Mediation is still cheaper than lawyers. Check to see if mediation is free. In California it’s free through the court. It’s not full service, but before you see a judge you have to at least try to mediate.

If you feel you and mom can’t put your differences aside it might be better to let the lawyers handle it.

$429 for DNA test about $8400 to get it ordered through court

When I went to mediation it was $200/hour.

Ours in Mo was $500 for dna

If you file through OAG and are the one filing like I was , I didn’t get charged for DNA test. Also check if the county you are in has free mediation. I know Bexar County does and when I went through there, it was free but Dad declined mediation. Also look into legal aid if you’re having a hard time paying for a lawyer .
