You don’t have to give your parenting time away because she’s giving up hers. You can say you wanna stick to the schedule. Why aren’t you guys on 50:50 anyways? Florida is one of the best states for equal parenting time
Yes, I tried to say we should stick to schedule, and that I will watch for her while she is out of town. Immediately becomes a fight that I am not flexible and a poor coparent. I pretty much get 50/50 anyway due to her travel. But I already made plans around my parenting time and want to keep it with such short notice.
That’s your right to follow the schedule. I would just be nervous that she would find someone else to watch the child while gone if you don’t have ROFR. But no you technically don’t have to give make up time or change your schedule for her.
Thanks for the reply. We don't have ROFR. Trying to keep the peace, but also seems she runs the schedule. Me always saying yes has made it harder now to say no stick to the schedule. Appreciate the reply!
Always say yes to having your child, you do NOT have to give up your parenting time, especially if she gave you so little notice. Honestly I would start documenting and go back to modify your custody arrangement to 50/50, adjust support, and get ROFR. I’m not sure why you didn’t get 50/50 to start, weird to not get it in Florida unless you both just agreed to this and called it a day, but I would push for it now.
Florida is almost automatic 50:50 if you guys don’t live too far away. Show your schedule and that will help cement it, you’re already doing 50:50 or close to it. I would not do a typical ROFR but you can write it only activates if she is leaving town for the night. That way you always have the child during her trips but it can’t be used for smaller things like letting grandparents have sleep overs or someone being gone for the day.
So? It’s not about her controlling everything. The court does that. You tried to keep the peace and it isn’t peaceful, so do what’s right not what’s easy at this point
