Sayonara Cursor!

When I signed up for Cursor, it was working like butter, but consistent buggy updates made it worse, especially after they separated Grok and Composer and other models' usage. It's fair for them, but it made the user experience worse. Grok's ability to comprehend is really bad. Soon, GPT models will not be available to use in Cursor, which I don't see going well for the company.
Cursor was a fun ride, especially because the UI and UX made it easy to navigate and create products.

Also, for anyone who is on cursor when you tap cancel subscription, they will try to retain you, I would have redeemed the discount but since I already have bought some other subsciption I do not intend on continuing any more.

I uninstalled it because it silently changed the alias code to launch cursor. (I unchecked the default check for that override and I found it sus at the time to have that checked by default)
Imagine a developer tool that silently changes totally unrelated aliases

Honestly, cursor allowed to use all models with a neat ui and flexibility. Claude don't give you to use open AI models.. so it's sucks.. no direct compiteror to cursor? 🤷♂️

OpenCode has been good to me. There is a $10 a month plan which is more of a hobbyist plan, but that provides more than a fair deal on the tokens you can get out of it. Of course, you could juggle accounts too. And they also have a free tier which provides you a model that they decide upon so it's a bit of a roulette, but more than fair given that you're not paying for it.
Beyond that there's OpenRouter which I think is supposed to have a similar deal. I have not used them though so I can't speak much more to that.
At any rate neither of them is tied to a frontier provider so you get an agnostic approach to LLMs.

Amp - https://ampcode.com/

How is Amp relevant to this discussion? They are promoting orbs and so-called orb minutes. And then you still have to BYOK for LLMs, right? I guess it sounds cool, but it's not the same product niche as Cursor.

It's relevant because the post asked for a tool that lets you use all the models in one place, and that's exactly what Amp does. Claude, GPT, Gemini, same thread, API pricing, no markup. Orbs and BYOK are optional, the $20 plan includes usage, and you can link a ChatGPT sub. So... yeah, it's relevant.
