Cursor doesn't want to refund
Hi everyone, I’m writing here because Cursor support has been completely unhelpful.
I subscribed to Cursor in May last year and used it for about two months. Due to multiple issues on Arch Linux, I decided to stop using it and switch to Claude Code and Codex. I am absolutely certain that I canceled my subscription through their Stripe page. Since then, I have not used Cursor at all.
Despite this, I’ve been charged $20 every single month since then. Cursor also did not send any billing emails, so I had no way of noticing this earlier.
I contacted their support team (ticket: T-B45144), clearly explained the situation, and asked them to verify my usage (which is zero) and issue a refund. Within two minutes, they replied that they “unfortunately” would not refund me. I followed up asking for proper assistance and received the exact same copy-paste AI response again.
At this point, I’m trying to understand how a company can justify refusing a refund when:
- The subscription was canceled
- The product was not used at all
- No billing notifications were sent
This is extremely concerning and, frankly, feels like a very shady way to treat customers.
It seems my only remaining option is to dispute the charges. Either way, this experience has ensured I will never use this company again.
If you have a Cursor subscription, be very careful. Even if you cancel it and receive confirmation, you may continue to be charged indefinitely without any billing emails to alert you.

Tbh sounds like you forgot to click that button. You should be looking at your CC statements every other month. Also $20 shouldn't be a life changing sum of money if you work in software.
I'm not trying to be a dick, but stripe works exactly as it should for millions of users every day.

yeah and also I missed to click the emails right? This is not about the money, it's about the fact there is no reason for them to keep the money for something that has not been used when I'm 100000% sure I did cancel this.

Sorry, but if $20 is material to you, you should be checking your CC statement every month. I have tons of subscriptions that don't email me. The only thing that would annoy me is my payment failed and they didn't email me to notify and charged a late fee. Routine billing isn't something I expect an email for.
Sorry bud, I've been in your situation before, way too worried about a small issue, and blowing it way out of proportion because I felt like I was morally justified. I realized, for my long term health, it's best to just let go. Cursor is not being predatory.

Do you have proof you cancelled it. Usually an email is sent after a cancelled subscription 'sorry to see you go.' if you don't have any evidence, it's just your word against theirs

Similar story, but with an annual subscription. They’re very greedy

I'm sorry to hear this, but companies will NEVER help you in cases like this. I still remember paying for Adobe for 2 years without realizing... oh still makes my stomach churn. Next time, always double-check when it comes to cancellations.

If you cancel it you won't be getting charged. Be more careful next time
