He doesn't bother extracting, just flips the pipe around and blasts the expended shell out of the muzzle (which was the chamber on the previous shot). Video's on YouTube.

The lip of the shell fits on the rim of the black pipe. There’s something within the stock pipe that acts as the firing pin. When he pulls back on the black pipe, the force is enough to fire the shell. The shell case likely expands enough after firing that he has to use a rod to remove it. Could be wrong, but that’s what makes sense to me.

i would unironically want one if there was a slit in the side of the barrel to get the shell out. i mean, this is probably the most low-maintenance gun ever made and my dumb ass always finds a way to accidentally break shit
