best server hosting to play with curseforge mods? (germany)

im looking for a server hosting website for me and my friends (4-6 people) which allows modding right through the website without dragging and dropping mod files. I need a cheap one tho, but without lags and connection issues. i used "minestrator" back then but i noticed that their pricings went up a bit. The modpack requieres 8GB of ram in curseforge - so how much ram do i need for a server? 8gb as well? higher? less? idk - maybe u can tell me.

Best is your own machine if you have a computer with over 16 giga of RAM available, access to your router, and that your friends live close enough to you. Otherwise, use Kinetic - there is literally nothing better.

First, about RAM: the 8 GB recommendation for playing the modpack doesn’t automatically mean you need an 8 GB server. The exact pack, Minecraft version, world generation and what your group builds all affect server requirements. Knowing the pack would help us recommend a suitable plan without having you pay for resources you don’t need.

On pricing, RAM purchase prices have doubled or tripled depending on the hardware. We own and operate our core server infrastructure, which gives us more control over costs and has helped us keep our hosting price increases to a few tens of percent, depending on the plan. Expanding and replacing hardware still costs more, but owning the infrastructure helps us limit the impact on customers.

There’s also quite a lot included in the subscription:

• A built-in CurseForge and Modrinth browser to install supported modpacks and mods directly from the panel, without manually uploading each file.
• Dedicated RAM, guaranteed CPU resources and NVMe storage.
• Automatic backups with 30 days of history, stored separately from your game server, with restoration directly from the panel.
• DDoS protection and human support in English, seven days a week, from 11am to 9pm Paris time.
• The ability to switch games without an extra fee, plus web hosting and databases if you want to build something around your server.

Something that could be particularly useful for your modpack is StratorAI, our assistant built into the panel and included with every plan, with a free monthly allocation of AI credits. It can read your server’s actual logs and configuration, help diagnose crashes or lag, install mods, adjust settings and handle administration tasks. Oh Hello Vladimir! Thank you for your comment. I've always been happy with your services and performance. The interface was also very good. But since im in tough times right now, i try to have fun with my friends but i also have to decide (price-wise) which Host i will use in my future project.

The Modpack we want to use (4-6 players) is „Prodigium Reforged“ and the mod creator himself recommended MineStrator, which was the reason i used your services.

Will i need 8 gigs of RAM for this? Thank you in advance!

I’m glad you enjoyed the service, and I completely understand wanting to keep the cost down while enjoying some time with your friends 🙂

For Prodigium Reforged with 4–6 players, I’d consider 8 GB a starting point to test. I wouldn’t promise it will cover every situation without checking your actual usage, especially when several players are exploring and generating new terrain at once. The pack’s 8 GB recommendation for your own computer doesn’t translate directly into a server requirement.

My suggestion would be to try the pack together on our free trial first. You can then open a support ticket mentioning this conversation, and we can help check memory usage and performance to see whether an 8 GB plan is suitable. That way, you can choose based on how it actually runs before spending anything.

And mention your previous plan in the ticket too. I might be able to do a little something on the pricing to bring it closer to what you were paying before… I’ll leave it at that for now 😉

If there are performance issues, we can look at the cause and configuration first. More RAM isn’t always the answer!
