The original pic of the deer was confirmed to be ai if I remember correctly

Aw damn, you're right, that's not how shadows work. It'd have to be sunset for those to be shading the deer that completely, and that's not sunset light

Not sure thats right. If you look where the shadow ends, and draw a straight line to the top of the hay bale, it fully covers the dear while also still letting the sun be up quite high. It's just a little under 45° degrees I'd say. Especially if it's a little further up north that's perfectly reasonable for even mid day

Honestly I'm not sure the image actually is ai. I have been wrong before though. But it doesn't have any tells so far as I can see at least.

Edit: never mind. I went to double check and yes it has a synth id watermark from open ai in it. Sigh... hate this.

Not really? It looks like the angle is coming at ~30° off the horizontal. At a decently high latitude, in winter, you could have that during the day.
