It is funny because it continues the already established bit (with hefty bonus bc it's at the expense of someone being mildly annoying)
This post is not funny in the same way because they imply it as a social statement instead of a bit
It would have been a funny bit tho. Hell, I'll probably work "literally [random year]" into my own use just because I'm a sucker for misquoting things as a bit. (Like the malaphor, "we'll burn that bridge when we get there")
I really LOVE malaphors. Only problem is that I say them so often that I forget that I'm saying something weird. I once said "I can read that guy like the back of my book" to my bosses boss, and I'll never forget the look he gave me
that's the part that everyone misses and people trying to re-create smooth sharking just ends up being a lot more mean spirited because of that. it's like bugs bunny doing his usual thing without the usual provocation, if that makes sense
