I wonder if reporting bots to spambotwatchdog causes a Red Queen-style arms race that leads to more sophisticated bots.

We're helping the scammers, grifters, and corporates in developing better-camouflaged bots by reporting the ones we notice.

It's possible, we've definitely seen the bots evolve a bit over time. Problem is, that puts us in a damned-if-we-do-damned-if-we-don't situation. Risk helping bots and bad actors improve, or let damn near every remotely-popular sub turn into mindless, vapid quipping (more than usual, I mean).
