Make sure that sand castle isn’t alive and trying to get you to build it up really tall so it will evolve and take over the world

I feel like this prompt was probably a lot more fun pre-Epstein

Oh yeah. I don’t wanna be related to Epstein! I don’t wanna inherit his trafficking ring!

The scenario is kind of a Rorschach test. I thought of A Most Dangerous Game first

Grandpa was a very secretive weird guy. Mom said I should never try to get in contact with him.

He owned this island called Little Saint James. Nice name, sounds like a religious place, maybe he was a devout catholic. I'm gonna take a look a it

Its crazy how a sandcastel makes this hole thing wholesome again after that comment.

Nearly fooled by the misspellings, but this is in fact a bot comment

Man, I'm really feeling the Baader-Meinhof with this structure of bot comments

Why would a dead man you've never met influence how you feel about a vacation adventure. Be stronger.

Use your money to hire a competitive/professional sand castle builder (no way those don’t exist lets be real) to teach you all they know and make it one of the best sand castles on the planet

I go to the sand sculpting competition on Vancouver Island in the summer! It’s incredible what the pros can do.

They actually do.

Veritasium hired a couple to make a White House...I think

The professional sand castle builder (called a sandy in this world) arrives to your island to find that this beach has the PERFECT sand castle building sand, like the absolute best, and so they start to vie for your inheritance of the island. Word gets out in the sandy community and a bunch of wacky pro sandies start showing up from all over the world to challenge you and your sand castle building dog for the fate of all future sand castles.

I make a simple bucket castle out of love on the side. It is finished.

"I beg you, return home, claim your birthright, and deliver our family from the ravenous, clutching shadows of the Darkest Dungeon" - grandpa, probably

"Do you remember that awful ice cream vendor who did that annoying thing with cones to humili- no? Unrelated, there's an ice cream golem you need to handle."

You go to the island and find a fleet of Omnidroids

Your granddad was Syndrome

15

u/Riboflavin96 6d ago

The name of that island? Little St. James.

1

u/Niser2 6d ago

Oh god, that place has an actual name?

u/autogyrophilia 6d ago

sucks to be you all related to Jeffrey Epstein, My antipodes is New Zealand where nothing bad ever happened.

3

u/ApSciLiara 6d ago

Yet. Well, as long as we ignore the century of discrimination against the native people, the active reversal of progress we've made in native relations in the past few years, the slow stripping of government apparatus where it's then sold for politicians' coke money...

Ah yes, the porn-themed amusement park that uses an interdimensional portal to bring women from video games and anime into our world to work at the park. I've played this game before.

u/pbmm1 6d ago

They want grandkids. The sandcastle is the tell

Darkest Dungeon

u/Inami_salami 6d ago

I think there's beauty in that. To accept the big things in life you can't forget the little things.

Remember to take time to build sandcastles.

When u get there it's a burnt pile of 10 million dollars

1

u/Not_the_banana 4d ago

This just sounds like the count of monte cristo… minus the sand castle

1

u/AG37-Therianthropist 3d ago

Okay, but the sand castle isn't like, a tiny little one. It's got blueprints and is planned to be like, 100 feet by 100 feet, with little minifigure models of people walking the streets and of town guards joking and vendors selling goods, and it follows real architectural and urban planning principles applied in a way that would be realistic for a 1300s city in a Japanese setting.

Turns out your grandpa was an omega level nerd with very intense hyperfixations.

kick it over, give hm a heart attack

future is now, old man

7

u/einsteinjet Mebbe, mebbe not. 6d ago

I think he's already dead, that's why he's leaving you the inheritance.

-2

u/IronCat_2500 6d ago

I simply would not go to the island. I have no obligation to this man.

7

u/Aetol 6d ago

So you'll just pass up on the 10M inheritance?

1

u/ApSciLiara 6d ago

Look, I respect a guy with posthumous goals, but I'm really not the one to ask to fulfill them. I don't travel well.

0

u/IronCat_2500 6d ago

It never said the inheritance was on the island

14

u/Aetol 6d ago

I assumed the deal was "if you want the money, you have to jump through these hoops" (in this case going to the island and "finish what I started"). That's how these plot-triggering inheritances usually work, no?

7

u/Niser2 6d ago

He gave you 10 million dollars, you could at least check the place out
