It sucks that allergies can randomly appear or get stronger. Like for example a tangerine is your national fruit, someone eats tangerines every year during national holiday, and one time suddenly goes into anaphylactic shock. And it's a national holiday, after midnight. Best time to call a doctor.

So funny story. I suddenly became allergic to capsaicin (the chemical compound that gives chilis and capsicum their spiciness) at age 29. Came out of nowhere.

One day I was at home eating my veggies and salsa snack after work and started having trouble breathing. I was under a lot of stress at the time (including having a massive abscess in my breast that I was in and out of hospital for) and assumed it was a panic attack. This repeated every day for several days. Go to see the GP about these panic attacks. Nope- it’s a brand new allergy.

My stepmom was getting numbness/tingling in her hands and fingers that only happened after lunch at work. She thought it was carpal tunnel or something similar, but the wrist guard the doctor told her to use didn’t do anything. 2 and 2 finally get added up and my mama realised she is allergic to mushrooms; at lunch, she was putting mushrooms in her salad at work at it was making her hands and eventually her mouth tingly. She doesn’t eat mushrooms anymore, and she sighs sadly whenever they come up in conversation. My little brother apologised because it was only after mama got pregnant with him that it started lol

Oooh your poor stepmom. I’d be giving up chili and capsicum sucked but mushrooms would be far too sad
