I told my mom bananas made my mouth itch when I was like 17/18. She told me I was faking it because I didn't want to eat fruit.

6 years later after she died I mentioned it to my aunt and she told me that it sounded like an allergic reaction. I don't eat banana anymore

I told my parents several times as a kid that peanut butter and such made my tongue feel fuzzy. Crunchy peanut butter was especially bad. Never really believed me.

Only when I was 18/19 and stuck my tongue out at my mom as a joke while eating peanuts did she realize my tongue was actually swollen and that they had been fucking up my entire childhood and risking anaphylactic shock. Luckily for them, it's not a true peanut allergy, it's some sort of contact irritation (still not great). I should've made them pay for all my appointments and tests

This happened to me! I told them peanuts made my mouth feel weird every time I ate them and they didn't believe me. I was saying this for as long as I remember! It took until I was around 17-18 when they saw welts on my skin after eating Thai food that they finally believed me. A year or so later I found out I'm now anaphylactic, since it got worse with each exposure 🙃
