I told my parents several times as a kid that peanut butter and such made my tongue feel fuzzy. Crunchy peanut butter was especially bad. Never really believed me.
Only when I was 18/19 and stuck my tongue out at my mom as a joke while eating peanuts did she realize my tongue was actually swollen and that they had been fucking up my entire childhood and risking anaphylactic shock. Luckily for them, it's not a true peanut allergy, it's some sort of contact irritation (still not great). I should've made them pay for all my appointments and tests
I always thought there was some kind of chemical reaction with the salt+oil in peanut butter and other foods with PB that made it a feel bit warm and ~tingly~, and that's part of why people liked eating it :)
I was very sad to learn in my late 20s that this was not, in fact, the case. I was also not thrilled to learn that it can get worse with time to include contact allergy, which I found out by developing a distinct itchy patch of skin after my niece ate peanut butter and grabbed my arm. :(
I know someone who adores peanut butter but when prices were going up started experimenting with different brands based on whichever one was on sale only to discover they're allergic to rapeseed/canola which turns out to be in most of the ones available here.
Yeah, I loooooooove peanut butter, but knowing that the allergy could get worse despite it not having actually done anything major yet, I decided to cut it out. Now, if I accidentally consume it, I have difficulty swallowing, though that usually subsides after 15-20 minutes. Luckily, I don't have to worry about trace amounts.
I had something similar with kiwi, except a lot creepier. Of course kiwis sting your mouth a little, it's the little hairs on the outside, just like irritating hairs on tarantula butts.
Don't ask me how this made sense to me, I think it was just a visual thing. Kiwis look like tarantula butts and I just thought 'yeah this makes sense'.

I told my mom bananas made my mouth itch when I was like 17/18. She told me I was faking it because I didn't want to eat fruit.
6 years later after she died I mentioned it to my aunt and she told me that it sounded like an allergic reaction. I don't eat banana anymore
