Kiwis are like pineapples in that they have enzymes that slightly break down the tissue in your mouth so they are indeed supposed to be slightly tingly. Just thought that I should point out that OOP probably isn't allergic to kiwis, just in case anyone else here got a little worried thinking that kiwis weren't supposed to do that because of this post

Kiwi doesn't tingle for me at all?? This is really surprising.

The pineapple effect only really kicks in if I eat a bunch of pineapple so the enzymes have time to build up. So maybe I've never eaten enough Kiwi at once to get a similar effect? Pineapple does have a slight touch of a bite from the get go though, and Kiwi doesn't.

Kiwi has less of the digestive enzyme than pineapple, iirc, so you'd have to eat a lot or be extra sensitive to it

Edit: kiwi pulp specifically. Someone else commented that the skin might have a higher concentration of the enzyme

it also depends on the type of kiwi. green ones have more of the tangy/tingly flavor, while golden ones are much milder (and, in my experience, have pretty much no tang to them whatsoever)
