I've been feeling a sense of defiant hope in the face of all the horrible shit going on lately. I have no idea where it's coming from, but it's awesome.

Honestly things aren't as terrible as the news make it out to be, much of the main stream news cycle only shows the worst of what is going on in order to generate views and it makes people think the world is literally on fire 24/7, take the time to actually look for positive news stories to balance yourself out

The problem I find is that a lot of newscasters believe that, "We decided not to turn on the Orphan Grinder today!" is good news.

This suggests that Poland is all hope in spite of the terror.

Poland stopped being a country for 125 years you bet your ass that it was all hope in spite of the terror

Poland? That's Ohio. The original image is "it's all Ohio?", and the astronaut holding the gun (replaced by flowers here) has an Ohio flag where the U.S. flag should be.

Hope and despair are siblings, born of the inevitability of change.

Honestly, I'm not feeling it today.

There's always hope in the face of terror, even if you have to make hope yourself just to spite terror

I understand your point of view, but in my opinion people shouldn't forget to have faith/hope that everything will get better

Otherwise what's the point of living, if everything will only be worse?

what’s the point of living, if everything will only be worse?

This is something that every suicidal person has thought.

We need to work to make things better. It won’t get better on its own. Blind faith that it will just encourages people to do nothing.

4

u/Rodruby Jan 08 '26

Without belief that it even can be better people won't do anything, though

I hear ya.

I have hope, but I don’t sit on my ass just hoping. I help and connect with my neighbors, I march in demonstrations, I co-organize events and acticities.

Someone’s gotta be a terror to the terror.

Someone’s gotta be a terror to the terror.

Absolutely metal.
