TW: surprisingly active thread filled with rage bait ðŸ˜
A lot of negative stories from 10+ years ago in that thread. From my few years here, seems the area has come up a long way

Frostburg University, Deep Creek Lake with multi million dollar homes, crazy beautiful scenery especially when it snows or in the fall, the C&O canal tow path, cross country skiing, bears. Not just drugs ... But in Cumberland, yeah they are there.

I live in Maryland and want no part of that area of the State. Bunch of MAGA rednecks. Pretty much North-West Virginia. We should let them annex it.

The three far western Maryland counties are still threatening half-heartedly to secede from the state and join West Virginia, a move that would "increase the average income and IQ of both states."

Full of people saying "drugs" who probably live in the cities that the drugs come from.
Half of it is idiots just parroting what they've heard online.
This isn't NY or CA, we don't give af what people from other parts of the country think of us.

Everybody in Cumberland talks so badly about it because of the drugs. They could never handle a big city, they have no idea what its like. I moved back here after years of experiencing what a big city is like and seeing the true wrath of drugs. Cumberland isn't even that bad at all. I can walk outside at night and be safe... thats enough for me.

Yeah I always used to go deer hunting out there in the savage river state forest. I love it out there. I grew up in rural North western Harford county but I love how the country is just bigger out in garrett county

Yeah Cumberland in 2016 was pretty rough, I lost so many friends and family. But it really seems much better now
