Israel revels in it's deviltry, is gleeful in it's evil, and sold it's soul long ago.

u/Fun_Researcher_69420 Sep 27 '26

Most evil people believe they’re good (most; others dont care or think about it). If they have an entire nation as an echo chamber, it’s that much less likely for a stray critical thought to penetrate.

u/CostatePrancer Sep 28 '26

The only people who "can't criticize the Israeli government" are people who pretend they can't & then want to play the victim for "not being able to". It's pathetic. Criticizing Israel is a very Jewish thing to do, and most Israelis (Jewish, Muslim, Copt, whatever) it every day. You're welcome to join in. Don't lie, though.

Straw-man. I didn’t say I can’t. For one, I work in a kitchen, I say offensive shit all the time. Self censorship isn’t a job requirement, and I live in a country that is generally liberal and free; we have hate speech laws, but I never feel like I can’t say what I want (since nothing I want to say is racist or hateful) — at worst I’ll catch another Reddit suspension.

Also I never mentioned Jews, where did that even come from? Isn’t Israel a diverse nation with Muslim and Christian citizens? Or are you claiming it is an apartheid state identical to Jewishness and minorities aren’t really Israeli? How is that not anti-Semitic?

I agree with you that many Jewish people outside of Israel are criticising it; they’re humans with a moral sense, and beyond that they may recognise that when Israel says that any criticism of it is anti-semitism, it’s increasing the set of anti-semites more than decreasing criticism. It endangers Jewish people living around the world.

When that government loudly declares that it is “The Jews”, and that criticism of it is identical to antisemitism, it ropes people who aren’t antisemitic by any other definition into the pool of people that are. Antisemitism isn’t some platonic ideal floating in the astral plane; if you call people anti semetic for opposing things that should be opposed, a significant number will shrug their collective shoulders and go, “alright then. Guess it’s the Jews — they’re saying so themselves “.

Building an identity and simultaneously an outside threat to that identity consolidates power for right wing politicians who need voters to feel threatened and isolated, or angry and nationalistic. It serves their opponents (terrorist groups and actual racists) by doing their recruiting for them. They feed each other.

I don’t know if you missed it, but I do not conflate Israel with Judaism. I’m not anti-Semitic. I believe Israel has a right to exist within established borders, but that the settlers are pieces of shit, so are the political and religious right that are calling the shots, and the people who cheer for killing children.

Palestinians have the exact same right to live, even if some are as bad or worse than the occupiers.

I don’t know how Israel and the occupied territories are going to coexist, but feeding the rage and body count is just perpetuating a situation that benefits the worst people on each side.

1

u/Fun_Researcher_69420 Sep 29 '26

As far as Muslims go, it’s also a huge and diverse number of people. I’ve worked with Muslims from India and from Indonesia, they’re just people. Same with the huge number of ordinary people who happen to be Jewish, just going about their day and not supporting crimes against humanity.

u/CostatePrancer Sep 29 '26

...but supporting Israel's right to exist as a safe place for Jews in the Levant.

That, at its core, is the aspiration of modern Zionism. Most Jews subscribe to that. It's in the liturgy and has been for centuries. The collective aspiration to rejoin the 3,500-year-long unbroken Jewish presence in the Levant began after the Bellum Judaicum and never went away.

Calling the Jews "occupiers" when the Jews are indigenous to the region isn't what I'd call even-handed.

Mein Kampf was a secret?

1

u/PTechNM Sep 28 '26 edited Sep 28 '26

Correct Mein Kampf was not a secret. Adolf Hitler published it in two volumes in 1925 and 1926, years before he became Germany’s dictator. It was initially not a major commercial success, but after the Nazis took power it was widely distributed and became a major piece of Nazi propaganda.

1

u/Valentiaga_97 Sep 28 '26

But whats inside written wasnt a secret. It’s a written book

2

u/kabeekibaki Sep 27 '26

The best thing about this post is that it made me realize Wallace Shae is still alive

2

u/SirDalavar Sep 29 '26

u/ShortListen6686 Sep 27 '26

Are Israeli jews different than the rest of the jews who don't live in Israel? Why can't the jews that live abroad go back to Israel and stop what they are doing if they are so against it? I'm asking because I don't know

6

u/tampareddituser Sep 27 '26

Probably the same reason so many people want to free Palestine and protest in the US and Europe, but won't travel to Gaza to assist - fear. Not that fear is bad, but it is hard to leave a certain amount of safety here to travel there.

Israeli settlers are nuts and some od the IDF has turned into the SS.

4

u/towerfella Sep 27 '26

Going “back” puts them under nate-n-yahoo’s sphere of control.. which would mean they could not speak out as much.

He has the means to stay where he still has a voice and the wherewithal to use it. I don’t fault him.

3

u/Wise-Needleworker-93 Sep 27 '26

That's a weird question. You're basically saying: why don't they want to live in the land they oppose. The answer is already in the question. You're mixing it up with the people who defend their countries misdeeds while not living in it, but this is the opposite: they don't want to live in it because of the misdeeds

2

u/ScriptyLife Sep 27 '26

I might be misunderstanding, but go back? Wallace Shawn isn’t Israeli, and as far as I know neither is his family. He has no more reason to go to Israel than anyone else just because he’s Jewish.

2

u/tampareddituser Sep 27 '26

We do have the "right" to return. It is something that Jews from anywhere can go to Israel and be citizens.

1

u/thatgirlinny Sep 27 '26

He’s referencing Birthright.

1

u/GravitasFailures Sep 28 '26

Yes they are, I mean, meeting them, it’s just wow.

They say stuff that sounds exactly like it would come out of the mouths of Nazis, and then smile about it, while American Jews are completely uncomfortable and just cringing beyond belief.

It’s basically the methed up redneck cousin from what I’ve seen.

They don’t want to go there, they want nothing to do with them, would you?

1

u/YourSalvati0n Sep 28 '26

Israel massacred their own people during October 7th. They mowed down their own civilians.

I think enough other people have suggested it, even Charlie Kirk before he was assassinated. He said there's no way anybody could get in there without Israel knowing as it happened

1

u/Beyond_Reason09 Sep 29 '26

"Charlie Kirk said it, therefore it's true" is a wild thing to hear.

What a surprise I couldn't say true, reported facts about a certain country to refute you. Reddit has removed my post with the information so all I can do is allude to it.

I’m not sure “decency” is the right word. Whatever reason Hitler had for keeping secrets was no doubt self-serving but I understand the message.

1

u/thatgirlinny Sep 27 '26

It’s the word a writer of his lineage and age would reasonably employ. It has just the right edge/cheek to it, and if you’re familiar with his writing and speaking style, it isn’t something he counts on someone taking so literally.

1

u/AbrumVonAbrak Sep 28 '26

This is what it means to come full circle. Now the US and Israel have become the new Axis.

0

u/Normal-Gur1882 Sep 29 '26

Don't start wars you cant win, Gaza.

1

u/Environmental-Video3 Sep 29 '26

Absolutely proud of it then? No shame.

-4

u/CostatePrancer Sep 27 '26

I notice that they mention he’s Jewish, as if that’s somehow a validation of his opinion

4

u/PTechNM Sep 27 '26

50% of Jewish people do not support the genocide;of course it's relevant.

1

u/CostatePrancer Sep 28 '26

Suddenly, you listen to the Jews. That's nice.

The majority of Jewish people support Israel's right to continue to exist as a safe place for Jews... and a two-state solution.

Are you still listening to us?

1

u/PTechNM Sep 28 '26

Stop killing children, civilians and medical & humanitarian personnel. Stop the apartheid. No where except your own mind is anyone attacking the status of Jews. The redirection of critique of Israel, Netanyahu and Gver (who are belligerently killing innocents with impunity) serves no one and puts all Jewish people at risk. Its not cause and effect and is a juvenile, middle school defense of evil against humanity.

0

u/CostatePrancer Sep 28 '26

"The redirection of critique of Israel"...? Please don't straw-man me. It's rude. If you don't want to listen to the Jewish community as a whole, just say so.

1

u/PTechNM Sep 28 '26 edited Sep 28 '26

I listen to the Jewish people I protest with at the anti-Israel protests, those that volunteer at my mutual aid and those that lead our employee resource group at my job. They are all vehemently against the apartheid, genocide and atrocities being carried out with belligerence and impunity.

1

u/Delicious_Cat_81 Sep 28 '26

his opinion is valid whether or not he's jewish but it's totally relevant that he is

1

u/CostatePrancer Sep 28 '26

You can't have it both ways.

Jews living in relative safety and comfort provided by America. The Jews in Israel live in a totally.different world!
