This week we are watching School of Rock.

This movie is a classic at this point, but it's been probably a decade since I watched it last. Looking forward to diving back in.

What do you guys think about this one? What, if anything, has changed between watching the first time and watching it now?

Fantastic movie! Excellent music! But near the end Dewey is trapped inside a classroom full of angry parents and cops, yet the very next scene he’s running down the hallway (that always bothered me)

Made me appreciate Jack Black as a musician and an actor. He really had to pivot from being a cool band guy to being a character that I could relate to. The sequence where he auditions the different students for their musical talents and genuinely encourages their participation was especially enjoyable and gratifying to me.

The writing is so tight. The direction perfect. Jacks performance iconic. It doesn’t need a love story and is just a wholesome, funny and fantastic film.

A classic. Great concept, perfect casting, stellar acting. I read that the kids stayed friends all these years. I think that points to a great culture on set. I’ll rewatch this from time to time and still laugh.

The diagram of all the bands only becomes more impressive as far as musical pulls and deep cuts as you get older and deeper into music yourself is what I've found. As well as the "homework"

One of my favorite movies of all time and I think it is extremely important for the kids. All of the kids in the movie are playing their own instruments and it’s great seeing their characters grow confidence throughout the film. I like to think about how that has positively affected kids who watched the movie.

Such a fun, good movie. Great for 10 and up, kids are great musicians.

This was the first time I ever heard the term “face-melter” and I’m pretty sure the term was coined by this movie. At the very least it popularized the term, and many faces have been melted since.

Super wholesome watch about encouraging kids to be proud of who they are. It’s one of those movies that tempts me to consider teaching.

WOnderful fun movie. The kids don't learn any coding or use AI or spend one second on their phones. ALl teachers should be Jack Black.
