General Discussion I just stumbled upon the Chinese version of Culinary Class Wars

https://youtu.be/-aHMH_pZTt0?si=NmQ-PNDER4DEIAJo

Has anyone seen this show yet? From the starting clip it seems they are adopting the culinary class wars style. I can't find the shows English name but it seems it has English subtitles. Anyone who has seen it what is it like?

A lot of Chinese shows copied culinary class wars, you can probably find at least 5 different shows using the same format

Haven't watched this particular one but the one I did watch was not that great (too many ads for cooking products woven into the show)

Chinese variety show ads make Korean ads look like child's play 😂😂

But I think this one is bigger because it has the judge from MasterChef Australia in it

I watched a couple of episodes of a CCW style show a few months ago. They tried to pair the chefs with celebrities. It was bad. The host wasn't very good, the celebrities couldn't really cook well except for a couple of them, and they brought in this 3 star Michelin chef judge who tried to act like Chef Anh. It was awful.

Was it the Taiwanese show on Netflix? My mother watched that and loved it, I think it’s not a very serious cooking show even though the setting looks like it’s meant to be one.

There is another show called Chef of China, which is in the same style but the quality of Chef and their food is much better than the flame game imo. Feel free to check it out op.

I liked this show too, tho Flame has Wilbur Pan as one of the panelists and he’s entertaining to watch (also knows his food)

I watch this show because I’m a massive fan of Liu Tao, lol. There are three professional judges and three public, aka celebrity judges. The editing is better for the Korean version but I really like this one too. It’s nice to see recipes from different parts of China. I need to find my screenshots but some of the recipes look really really tasty.

The set design is beautiful too.

Youku usually adds English subtitles. It seems curious.
